Cataracts Part VII

 First off, Jos was up at 7. She wanted to see us before we left the house at 8:30, waking at 7 she thought she might as well stay up. This was a final follow-up appoint, last one in the city. Next time (in a month) I go to my own optometrist to ensure all is well. However, I'd read that they are on strike during August. We shall see.

The news didn't look good. A scary report: power outage the previous night, due to a traffic incident. Lots without power!
The cause:

Undaunted, we said goodbye and headed to the city. The hibiscus are huge and looking great. It's tough leaving home!

Perth was quiet. It is so sad seeing this store close. Do you remember it, Yam?! The employees were keeping it going, as the boss wants to retire.

Very quiet.

It looks so peaceful in the countryside. Cows chewing their cud in the 30 C. heat.

The crops are growing.

Hay is done!

The nurseries are done  their strawberries. More crops are on their way.

It wasn't too hot for a riding lesson.

Along Woodroffe, social distancing for cars. Not for COVID–19, but for incidents, distracted driving, and the like.

This place had a fire. It's so sad, all these weeks later, that it hasn't been fixed.

We made it. We left at 8:25, arrived by 9:45, a tad early for our 10:30 appointment. There is a process, however, which takes time. Several tests: examining my eye pressure, a vision test (I'm still 20/20 in 2020!), and inspection by the doctor.

Finally, after awhile, we were ready to see the dear doctor.

The technology is amazing.

I have had a great check up. Things are healing nicely. The Dr. said that since I am 'young' for cataracts, I may have to come back for 'polishing' in a year, or two or three. This can be done in the iCare clinic on Carlingwood Ave., where my initial consults were made. It's called YAG Laser Capsulotomy.  We'll see what happens.

Riverside Hospital cancelled all cataract surgeries for August, so we were fortunate to get it done at Lasik in July.

Done by 11:00, we texted Caitlin and Josephine, and said we were on our way. Josee was in charge, being 12½.

JB pondered the name of this business: Alaska Wood Industries. We are a bit far away from Alaska.

The water lilies and water hyacinth are blooming.

As I pass spots on the river, like this, I often imagine the flowers on the river, the herons, the pickerel weed.

Always work to be done, even in the heat.

Home and safe by 12:30. The girls were told not to have soup, we didn't want them at the stove while we were gone. We arrived in good time for lunch, though. Both girls had chicken noodle soup. The previous day, Josee had butter chicken, which was good, too!

Then, more adventures, a hike. More on that tomorrow!

It's not simple, health care. You usually aren't just done. It's the follow-ups that wear you down!
