The news didn't look good. A scary report: power outage the previous night, due to a traffic incident. Lots without power!
The cause:
UPDATE: 'No trace of the driver': Driver flees on foot after collision near Almonte that left 2 injured and over 500 without power
Undaunted, we said goodbye and headed to the city. The hibiscus are huge and looking great. It's tough leaving home!
My best hosta, uneaten, as yet.
Very quiet.
Hay is done!
Yikes!
The technology is amazing.
I have had a great check up. Things are healing nicely. The Dr. said that since I am 'young' for cataracts, I may have to come back for 'polishing' in a year, or two or three. This can be done in the iCare clinic on Carlingwood Ave., where my initial consults were made. It's called YAG Laser Capsulotomy. We'll see what happens.
Riverside Hospital cancelled all cataract surgeries for August, so we were fortunate to get it done at Lasik in July.
JB pondered the name of this business: Alaska Wood Industries. We are a bit far away from Alaska.
"Alaska Wood Industries was founded in 1978 by European immigrants, Ranko and Cveta Ignjatic as a small millwork shop. "
The water lilies and water hyacinth are blooming.
As I pass spots on the river, like this, I often imagine the flowers on the river, the herons, the pickerel weed.
Always work to be done, even in the heat.
Home and safe by 12:30. The girls were told not to have soup, we didn't want them at the stove while we were gone. We arrived in good time for lunch, though. Both girls had chicken noodle soup. The previous day, Josee had butter chicken, which was good, too!
Then, more adventures, a hike. More on that tomorrow!
It's not simple, health care. You usually aren't just done. It's the follow-ups that wear you down!

...OK already, what did the Doc say?
Hello,
I am glad your eye has healed and all is well. Great followup with the eye doctor. Love those big hibiscus and the heron. Take care, enjoy your day!
You must be so relieved. To be able to see everything again. How do they address the astigmatism?
@Karen extra expensive lenses! But I'm worth it!
Eyesight is the most important sense , get the best lenses you can. Love the story of your trip, and home safely. We have a new cluster outbreak in Auckland, one person visited Rotorua ( where family live), so scary. In theory before she knew she might have the virus??? Maybe so, but this has had so many ramifications for all business places there, both Auckland,Rotorua, Hamilton and any other place she visited. We will know later today if a total lockdown will happen again. Stay safe, enjoy the G Camp.
Those are good girls that you have! Glad the eye is looking fine!

so excited that YOU are excited about your eyes; hoorah!
And oh no... that lovely cobbler!!! I still have and adore my repaired sandals AND the moccasins bought in addition - I now wish I'd bought two pairs! Golly. Fond memories... YAM xx
Congrats on the good results and sharp eyesight! By the way, hope you take time to enhale the wonderful fragrance of those white water lilies!
Good that you had a positive follow up on the surgery.
Optometrist on strike? Really? First I have heard of it.
We have an appointment scheduled, but I think in the fall.
I had the YAG surgery done on both my eyes a few years after the cataract surgery was done. It was an easy peasy procedure and my eyes were perfect again. Good to hear you are progressing well.
Thanks for the cataract update
