Fundraiser!

We were off to a craft and artisan show, the annual CC's Outdoor Harvest market last weekend. It was a fundraiser for our local Lanark County Interval House, a shelter for domestic abuse. We donate money to this organization monthly, but we didn't begrudge the $2 per person entrance fee.

You know, when you see these cars, it's best to just park when you find a spot.

We bought a few things from this charming young lady. She was selling some of her work, but also her Grampa's, who lives nearby. She was a bit chilly, with the wind blowing onto her back off the lake. I hope a nice sale warmed her up some!

It's a lovely bay, where the geese and ducks shelter on their way south.

Joe bought himself a sausage!

There was a meeting of vehicles!

"The vehicle in the image is a Can-Am Defender, a side-by-side utility vehicle. These vehicles are designed for a variety of tasks, from work on farms and worksites to recreational use on trails."

I'll end with the report from CC's! A successful fundraiser. $1900 to LAWS and $800 to Cards for Congo.

I'll leave this here:

Hang on to your hat!

These late nights! It's been a great distraction from the economy, layoffs, tariffs, and politics! There are rules, they are following them. There are umpires to make sure everyone is doing what they should.

F-bombs and fact checks!

U.S. ambassador to Canada goes on expletive-laced tirade at Ontario’s trade representative, witnesses say

It was at the Canadian American Business Council gathering in Ottawa, where Hoekstra attacked the Ontario trade rep, using the F-bomb several times. In some parts of the business world, it is normal. The room had cabinet ministers, diplomats, and business leaders. It is not normal in diplomatic circles.

He sounds like a fitting rep for the US president. He had a press conference where he dropped the F-bomb.

He looks a little lost... and wanders away from the Japanese PM. Some days we just have to shake our heads.

Then there are fact checks... Daniel Dale is a Canadian, and used to work for the Toronto Star. He now works in the US.

Blue Jays & air traffic

The feeders are out. I've been bringing them in at night, and hustling out the door to hang them when it is light out.

Oops, outlier. I spotted a downy woodpecker, nuthatch, and lots of chickadees.

We were watching the Blue Jays on TV.  In the air, above the stadium, this helicopter was there for hours.

An LA police helicopter

This Cessna was circling, as well.

In the meantime, off Venezuela's coast, these two US military planes have been targeting victims.

Venezuela doesn't have a lot of drug trafficking, it does have a lot of oil.

In the air, on the land

Monday morning was garbage day. I remembered to put my clothes out for the morning, as well as starting the coffee machine. All is good, if chilly. Out I went. At 7 am I could hear the trucks in the distance. The stars were out, and the leaves crunched under my feet. It was peaceful!

We've had a strange cat visit. I don't know who has a Harlequin Tabby. The nearest house is about 500m away, across a busy highway.

Hurricane Melissa is quite something. I wonder how NOAA will manage, being in furlough with the US government shutdown.

The radar shots are amazing, if shocking.  This is from Zoom Earth.

Back to earth's surface. I put out bird feeders, but bring them in at dusk.

I saw a CBC piece on the various uniforms for the Blue Jays. No, not this one!

There are 5 of them. The City Connect uniforms are for home games and feature city icons.

I konked out at 10 pm! In Toronto, they opened up the stadium to show the game to fans on the big screens. There is lots of positive spirit. We'll see what happens next. One game at a time.

Out and about

 I'll leave these here!

#75 squirrel is out and about.

To rent or buy! They tore down the old house, and built apartments.

Personally, speeding is seldom an issue here. Usually it's people who've forgotten how to parallel park!

Moving sale!

Forest walks are different. The birds are quieter.

Butch is still out and about! Just a single.

Chimney repairs

I wanted to document this. It's important for the kids to know where their inheritance is going!

The chimney had issues.

You can see the cracks.

The top was pretty sad and loose.

They came for a quote.
