Fall sights and sounds

Here we are, deep into the school year. Poor Josephine has COVID. She'll be home from school. She's not feeling too badly, but did have a positive RAT.
We are continuing to do research on gun clubs. The proposed gun range has me rattled. I'm trying not to let it make me sick, but it is making me anxious.

I tootled on down to the back 40. The leaves are turning and/or falling! The aspen saplings are doing well, despite Bambi's affection for them! With the old sumacs dying off (insufficient moisture?), it add some trees to the back.

Just beside the wetland there are many little spider webs.

Another mushroom photo! They look so cute! These are new.

This looks like butterscotch!

I'd looked for the puff balls I'd seen here, not spotted one. I was out looking for Fred's burrow under the rocks. Instead I found a hole in the side of the yard.

On the front deck we've still bumble bees bumbling about.

Next year's buds...

Out the back, the temperatures are lower, as the sun doesn't warm up the back deck during this solstice.

This is the last of our frogs, I think. The Spring Peeper.
The baby gray tree frog tried to slip away from my lens.

Maple, the gray tree frog, nestles under an ivy stem.

And, as YAM says, this is the sign of Autumn. I've filled the goldfish tank, to let it warm up in preparation for the goldfish. It was -2 C. last night. When I hustled outside to take out the garbage, I noticed the bird bath had a skiff of ice. Whoopsie. I plugged in the heater.

On the back landing, you'll see my lovely pumpkin. Butch raccoon has attacked it already!

We are going to take me and my back out for a short drive-about this morning. We shall see how it goes. I’d like to get out to Wheelers either this week or next. It’s a bit of a custom for us, but we were past prime when we did the trip last year.

I need to get a pumpkin or two. It's time and they are so cheery. I'm really enjoying your beautiful color!

Great signs of autumn there! Thanks for good photos of the trees turning colors. Yes, your fish are probably turning pretty dormant with cold. Surprised Mr. Raccoon doesn't try to eat them.

Your seasonal scenes are lovely, and that environment would bring me peace, I think, even if some of the local issues might be stressful.

Ice already! Yikes! I hadn't even considered your goldfish care during the winter. Around here people who have deep enough water features can leave them outside over the winter. There's such a huge difference in our winters!

Jenn, how close are other properties to the proposed gun club? There are rules which must be followed, maybe contact your neighbours and then go to the authorities. It is scary to think this could happen, and I know it is confronting to do this, but to start now might just stop the process going ahead. A cold snap coming our way, snow to sea level in the far south !!!

Poor Josephine. I hope she recovers quickly.
It looks as if Autumn (one of my favourite seasons) is moving in fast.

I saw a lot of bees out in the sunshine yesterday. There are still a few flowers around for them.

Pretty fall colours!

At this point I'm fairly sure I'm keeping the windows shut overnight.

Sorry to hear about Josephine having Covid. My kids both had Covid last week as well. Thankfully just like Josephine, they weren't feeling too sick.

All lovely scenes from nature. We have a gun range a couple of miles away, and some neighbors have heard people practicing but I never have thankfully. So sorry to read that Josephine has COVID. My son and daughter-in-law were at a conference in Texas last week, and when they came back they both tested positive, even though they wore masks. They are on the upswing now though, and sending the best to Josephine for a speedy recovery.

It seems like all the fall chore have to happen at the same time.

Sorry to hear that Josephine has covid. I wish her a rapid recovery and I hope Grandma doesn't get it.

Speak with the others who will be affected as well as your elected representatives. Calmly and factually. You live where you live for the peace of nature. Seems terribly unfair for that to be taken away. I wish you all the best my friend. Do what you can, but try not to let it destroy your peace. I'm sending a prayer

It is definitely looking like autumn in your world. Such beauty with the change in colors from green to yellows and fiery reds. Sounds like your goldfish are about ready to come live indoors over the winter. I can't believe you are already getting frost. It's still quite warm here.
