Critters galore

That was another rainy day, with more to come. Maybe snow, but not a lot. The temperatures are up and down across the country. Vancouver needs rain, the east coast does not!

We have been busy. I relax following the Public Hearings on the Emergency Act. Lawyers, questions, answers, reports, sitting in the hot seat. It takes us away from our local woes. Parliament is required to hold hearings to determine whether they were right to call it.

Police infighting and a lack of communication between Ottawa Police, the Police Board, and Ottawa, the province and the federal governments, is dominating the headlines. The police chief denied that they knew the protestors would be there for a month. Yet, the OPP Superintendent had meeting reports of intelligence briefs that confirmed it.

The province did nothing for Ottawa residents, claiming they'd sent 1500 OPP members, but that was a lie. It was appalling.

Diane Deans, former chair
of the Ottawa Police Service Board, testifies.

It was interesting seeing Ottawa Mayor Watson testifying, in this his last week of work. JB testified his last week of work (2005) before a Senate Committee Transportation meeting. There was a transcript online, but I cannot find it again!

Lawyer for the Truck Convoy,
Tamara Lich on the right.
She was one of the leaders screaming at police.
She will be called as a witness.

There was a fatal incident not far away, three cars with one dead, and two transported to hospital. This is a spot where people seem to speed and pass everyone, treating the highway as a Nascar track. It is so sad. The highway closed overnight.

Anyway, my joy, our critters...

I think this is the Butch who used to have 4 kits. She is down to three. For now they can still access grubs, insects, and other food sources.

The turkeys come and go.

The coyote!

The coyote really flies through the area.

This was a fun surprise!

Butch seemed to be eating either weeds or the phlox here. It was 6 a.m. and it was funny. Good to have garden helpers.

I guess those hearings will result in some stricter ordinances...but really the point was to get help for the drivers, wasn't it?

Not quite, Barbara R.!
It was supposed to be a truck convoy protesting mask mandates, vaccines, and border crossings, but 70% of the truckers were vaccinated, and following medical guidelines.
Most of them were angry with the federal government, which has been the case for years.
Most truckers were against the convoy. They blocked the Canada/US border out west, and had guns in an attempt to hurt people.
Their mandate was 'No More Lockdowns' which ended the first year of the pandemic!

Hi Jenn, caught up on your posts. Of interest to you, I watched a wolf cross our property the other day and definitely not a coyote. Ned in the house went nuts. All the ground hogs have disappeared which makes me suspicious. Our trail cam though is catching just the usuals, fox and deer. Anything to do with local governments seems so tangly these days. It tires me just thinking about it. Sigh

Seeing an owl would fill me with delight.

Butch and the owl, you have a glorious batch of visitors. Keep warm.XXX

Yes, stick to your critters; they bring you joy whereas the police, politicians, and the authorities bring mainly frustration.

Great variety of critters. The owl is my favorite.
Take care, enjoy your day!

Roadways are built to accommodate high speeds, and then they're surprised when people speed *sigh* I am sorry to hear about the crash :(

I enjoy seeing wild turkeys but only see them when we're out in the country for some reason.

I confess that I haven't been following the hearings, for I made up my mind a long time ago. The proof is in the pudding. It took the Act to make it stop.

So many accidents lately

It; always interesting to see what goes on all night.

I think you're following those hearings like I am the January 6 hearings. They pull you in and you can't stop.

I just can't get over all your wildlife!

I saw a show pn PBS about how wild turkey mothers keep their young under their wings at night for warmth, No matter how many young ones, they all eventually find a way and space under the mother's wings. Loved seeing yours and the barred owl.

Seems like your politicians are as distrustful as ours!
