Slow down, people, someone out there loves you

Another traffic incident — A 34-year-old man is dead after he lost control of his car in Rideau Lakes Township and crashed into a ditch Thursday night. Timothy Whitney, was driving north on Rideau Ferry Road around 11:30 p.m. Police said Whitney failed to negotiate a turn and lost control of his vehicle before it crashed into a ditch.

Update: The driver was ejected from his vehicle. Police say he was deceased when he was found. No alcohol was said to be involved.

Man killed in Rideau Lakes Township crash

OTTAWA — A 34-year-old man is dead after he lost control of his car in Rideau Lakes Township and crashed into a ditch Thursday night.
Evidence of those who worked to remove the car.

A memorial

I cannot imagine the scene in the dark.

Thank goodness for our early responders and volunteer firefighters. EMS & First Responders are our heroes.

We come across crazy drivers everywhere.
Is it testosterone, alcohol, stupidity? Why pass in these terrible conditions, rainy, foggy, slippery, on a curve?
I see it all the time. My friends and colleagues who work in Perth complain about this section of road. Many pass in unsafe conditions. Several times, while people pass one another, 2 or 3 cars in a row, hubby has had to get onto the shoulder and the gravel, when an oncoming car is in his lane.

How sad, a familiar story here too. I had a similar near collision with an oncoming car, only seconds from disaster but fortunately I had room to get out of the way. A sharp reminder of our mortality.
