Deer in the sunshine

UPDATE: this is a miracle!

I ordered new filter floss on Monday, as I wrote yesterday, it arrived on Thursday at noon! Now I'm good for about 3 years!

Finally, a sunny afternoon. It was so good to see the sunshine. Apparently our deer thought so, too!

Later in the day a man came to the door. I was in the basement working out, so it must have been 10:00-ish. He had driven up to let me know that a 'fawn' was hit by a car. He thought he'd take it home for his coyotes, but the doe got up and climbed the hill. She was nestling beside the hydro pole.

I finished my workout around 11:00, and put on my snazzy red boots with the cleats. Climbing up the slippery hill, I found her. Can you see her? She looked pretty rough.

Her face looked a bit swollen and she looked like she was in shock. I quietly talked to her, and told her I was sorry. You aren't supposed to give food or water to hurt animals. I told her this! (Go ahead and laugh!)

I went round to the backyard and picked up my bench swing, which had fallen in the wind.

13:30 hours

I heard them working on the empty lot across the street, and wondered if the doe was still there beside the highway. I thought maybe the tractor might have scared her.

Happily, she was gone. Whew.

...no sun here, but the snow is melting.

So glad to know the young deer recovered enough to get up and leave on her own. Have you met your future neighbours yet?

It brings to mind when I hit a deer just around the corner. She got up and went away, but I wonder if she made it in the long run.

A short rest, some kind words all do the trick for the doe!!! You still have a heap of snow on the drive, be careful and do not slip!!!

So sad about the hurt doe, hope she will be ok but nature has its ways.

It is sad that she got injured. But, hopefully, she will survive.

Hopefully the deer is recovering now.

Poor fawn, poor deer. I hate seeing that. You were kind and I hope she heals.
