I watch the skies on the back deck. Soon it will be too cold! I love the birds, the planes worry me!
Yes, I read it on Twitter.

One has to check anything you read online. I dashed for the Flight Radar on my laptop, and saw this (below). The little red icon disappeared just after 14:00 hrs. The times on the radar are UTC, not local times. I thought this had to be the plane on Carp Rd.
Then, the next morning (Sunday) on the radio, I heard more about the crash. I read more online.
"The craft was an ultralight Quad City Challenger II, a three-wheeled, two-seater with a wingspan of about 9.6 metres and a length of slightly more than six metres."
OK, the call signs don't match! But the plane image clearly disappeared off the radar.
@OttFire responded to a plane crash on Carp Rd. Two patients needed to be extricated from the plane. The plane took down hydro wires which caused two separate grass fires. #OttNews pic.twitter.com/rr5ivDFFf6

I looked up the registration of the plane. It's C-IRGH. Peter Laing is the registered owner, and has a web page on building your own ultralight !
- There is an ultralight group.
- Transportation Canada lists general operating flight rules.
- Any two seat "ultralight" or Light Sport type aircraft requires a Sport Pilot Certificate or higher to fly.

...fortunately this isn't a common occurrence.
The ultralight planes are indeed a worry. They have multiplied and it's easier to get a pilot license. May God help them and us!
Ouch.
do you see them often? what an interesting thing to probably hear about and wonder what did happen?? have a great week. ( ;
