Monday drive to Canoe Lake Road Part 1

Monday, September 13th

I've been hunkering down at home. It was time to get out of the house. Off we went on an adventure. This is a favourite spot, as the roads parallel the lakes in many spots.

We were slowed down. We guessed what was slowing us down. Turns out, an extra wide line painting truck! There was a truck behind it, with a yellow sign saying 'road painting ahead,' as if that would slow people down! If you pass them within three mintues, you'll risk getting paint on your car, and you'll ruin the line.

The scenery is so pretty. Too soon it'll all be brown (or white)! Here are cows grazing.
I do love this guy's wood pile.
The trees are lovely!

Here we are! The vista on into Westport. This piece of road looks amazing, too. They've been working on it all summer. Brand new drainage, rocks along the culvert. With our weather, it's important to have good roads. We've been stuck here, behind a big, heavy truck unable to get up the hill!

The Cove had a bike outside as we passed. The next photo was after we'd turned around on Canoe Lake Rd. and headed back to Westport. He's making good progress.

I noticed these chairs. They are Muskoka chairs, but extra tall. I'm not sure I'd like them! My feet wouldn't reach the ground.
Westport has instituted traffic calming measure, with pylons in the middle and sides of the road.

Our girls are doing well. We miss them, but they are back in school. The quadmester thing is a bit tricky, what a change in teaching methods. I've been watching COVID cases in schools there. The Ontario government and the health officer, claimed it isn't spread in schools. SIGH. We're in the 4th wave and fingers are crossed.

The family went apple picking yesterday. Caitlin made an apple pie! This is Isabelle in the sunshine. What a great day it was for picking apples.

Sept. 16th – considering a voyage along the Tay River in Knapp's Iron Tube Ship.

Thanks for taking us out and about with you. That bicycle looked pretty heavily laden. Must have been for a long trip.

That’s a pretty fair drive-about. Never sure how far I want to go or for how long these days.

We are heading out on a road trip today. This cool sunny Sunday will be a treat. The Ottawa River is LOW down this end so we're going to do some exploring on the shoreline.

There is something uniquely wholesome about a young girl picking apples.
