🐻BEAR WATCH

When you go down to the trailcams, and you pass by a large amount of bear scat (flattened by rain), you know something is up. When the camera is askew, you do a little happy dance, since you know you caught it on camera!

Sure enough... cub #2 snuffed and snuffed, but cub #3 sent the camera awry.

I'd put a piece of fruit here for Butch. Apparently Momma wasn't interested.

Indeed. The trailcam tells me that they wandered along the edge of the wetland around 3:30 in the afternoon. That was about the time I had started the car, and drove into town to give Barbara my tiger lillies [Tiger lilies!], and they were no where near the house.

I mentioned that there had been a bear and cub sighting near the lake [🐻BEAR WATCH] only a few kilometres away. According to Bear Wise, female bears have about a 130-square-mile (50-square-mile) range. They don't have a territory per se.

We had a young one July 23rd. It appeared to be alone.

We had triplets in 2019!

Last year we had a young one come into the backyard, and hunker down under the shade of the tree. He heard us and took off quick as a bunny! These are good bears, who know to stay away from humans. This is the case for most of them in North America.

There are critters everywhere. We were watching the long distance Olympic women's swimming and a fish jumped right into the frame!

Visit more critters: Saturday's Critters # 399! Thanks, Eileen, for hosting.

Bear cubs are so cute when seen on a camera, or from afar. What fun to see them on your trailcam.
