Wood ducks and other critters

It's been really cold.
We haven't been in double digits overnight yet. We're getting close, though.

It's such a wonderful time of year, SPRING! All the returning birds are lovely to see. The song birds, the insect eaters, are a bright spot in my day. I've mentioned the rose-breasted grosbeaks, but the sounds of the forest are amazing. Phoebe is still working on the nest.

They've added some blue something...some blue bits!

Last year they nested nearby.

Down at the frogpond, there is only one active wood duck nesting box out of the three.

I've been trying not to disturb her, but she was feeding on the pond, flew away. We went to check on the nest. The eggs are well-covered.

Usually, the eggs look like this.

This is an old video using the snake scope.

In the backyard, a wild turkey was having a dust bath. She is a regular visitor.

Great variety of critters today. there was a very small bunny who appeared to be nibbling on an aloe plant in my driveway this morning. I had never seen anything near the aloe plant before so that has me curious.

Lots of neat critters entertained you this week. I didn't know a wood duck would nest in a box like that! How funny to see it up there instead of a songbird! Have a good weekend! Hugs!

Those cameras of yours are doing some sterling work. A good investment I think?
