Gramma Camp – Day 3 Wed.

Grampa took off to shop at Barnabe's, as they are exclusively seniors from 7 to 8. This is a relief. Sadly, they are a bit behind in restocking.

I had to explain what this was, after I showed the girls their cousin's photo of her art! We explained that we are safe in the house. When Grampa comes home he unloads groceries, then washes up. I help unload and wash up. We are safe.

I'm still reading about risky behaviours. As JB says, save us from the clueless.

Sadly, there are still Boomers off on vacay, and about to come home. One family driving north up the US from Florida. Another flying home from Bermuda. Yet another flying home from Hawaii.

From an acquaintance:

• The beaches, bars, streets and restaurants are very busy in Waikiki, Hawaii. I walked in Monday morning and rarely saw anyone wear a mask or practise any form of social distancing. There is a false sense of security with the Gov taking a weak position. Don’t spook the tourism horse. I’m leaving tomorrow as I sense a Tsunami is coming.

Ontario's education minister says EQAO, the province's standardized testing, is cancelled for the 2019-20 school year amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

We checked in with Momma and Papa last night, after dinner. Facetime is really fun.

6:45 a.m.

Breakfast was apple or blueberry pie, and melons.

Izzy called me from downstairs. "I need help with the fire!" She was putting logs on the coals, but they wouldn't catch. All I needed to do was open the damper. We'll fetch some more wood today, methinks. I checked it later, 8 a.m., and she was back to sleep!


We talked about how grateful we are to be living here. Our biggest problem is finding the regular ketchup grampa said he bought! Grampa and Izzy looked everywhere for it! Grampa bought another one when he went to the drug store. His PSA test was good, we can breathe for another 3 months. He has an appointment at the GP to have his cancer treatment here in town. Life is good! We can manage this.



The girls went out to climb the trees, again.
Isabelle helped me read the hydro meter. I read it. She wrote it down.

Isabelle (8): "It's so pretty up in the trees with only fragments of light that peek through."

The spiralizer continues to be fun!

Afternoon movie


After the movie, tree climbing, again. Then, they came in to tell me they were going out front to play on the chair. Bless their hearts. It is wonderful having them here.

Grampa was happy to see his doe, Maggie, with the dislocated ankle.
