Trailcam tales: fox, turkeys, coyote, fisher,

I quite like seeing who or what travels our trails. I've carefully selected the thumbnail photos. You can check out the time stamp. (I think the time on the trailcams is fairly accurate.) Their behaviour is so interesting to me, though.

First up, the fox. I put some of our turkey carcass down beyond the meadow. That way it didn't end up in the landfill.

I love watching them digitally. It was grooming time right in front of the camera.

Hubby is a regular walker. Check out the time stamp. At the farthest trailcam he passed by at 9:06.

Here, at 9:40 a.m., is a fisher. What a surprise. I picked up the trailcam cards about 10:45!

Don't blink, but here is our big buck. It's getting close to rutting season, and the males don't hang out together at this time. This reminded me of Our big buck! who was waiting with a doe in December.

Then, our young bucks.

Our coyote was here in the pouring rain!

My goldfish pond has 5 frogs, and it's filled up with 50 mm rainfall through the eaves and water barrel. Soon I shall have to drain it, but not yet. (The goldfish are indoors now.)

Two days later, coyote was back.

Finally, Butch! She's a great momma, with three kits. It was fun seeing her in the daytime. She was vigilant, of course.

We've been asked to release 4 raccoons from our local rehab. Watch for that later this week! We released 8 racoons, and 3 skunks in 2017. <= videos...

Skunk and Raccoon Release Photos (2017) It's wonderful to do something simple for wildlife and for the amazing folks who rescue injured animals.

I didn't even know that there was such a critter as a fisher until I saw that stuffed one at Wheelers.

Great captures, the racoon and her babies, my pick for today. We have a cold wind, some rain, and the garden is doing well.

I lived in the country for 20+ years and heard fishers on occasion but only ever saw one once. I moved to town and saw one running through the tiny backyard.
I watch your trail cams and tink how much my husband would have loved having something set up like that. He had a hunter's instincts for spotting wildlife but no inclination to harm any animal.

I'm really impressed by the quality (and the content!) from your trail cams. Do you have any advice for what trail cam to purchase? I'd love to get one for my place.
