They are warning, with 250 cm of snow fallen in the area this year, that a quick melt will be problematic. We've had a beginning melt with 8+ C. temperatures yesterday.
We can visit this interactive map to check out the levels: Streamflow & Water Levels.
Our municipality office is offering do-it-yourself sandbags, i.e. bring your shovel!
One day it looks like this... with 22 deer and over a dozen turkeys.
This is the one with the dislocated leg. Don't watch if you are squeamish!

The next day, our backyard is a mess. The driveway drains onto the yard, which is good for the well!

Today, it's around 0, and it's all frozen. It's snowing, too! Someone from my house went to the arena to do a couple of km around the walking track. He's pretty faithful with this. When he was there yesterday, a woman was walking around with a small boom box. You could hear it when you were on the other end of the track. I would have said something, but that's just me!
A friend posted a comment on Facebook that she's tired of all those beach photos vacationing friends are uploading. She said stop, or she has snowballs she's ready to throw!
It's horrid walking. I've checked all the drain spouts and liberated a couple.
Annabelle helped me check out the back door. We have a drainage system around the house in the back. So far it is working well.

Inside...we couldn't make the bed. Annabelle snuggled in after I went to the bathroom.
She was there all morning! She spent the morning resting.
My paperwhites are growing! The goldfish plant is still blooming, too.
A friend's orchid blooms.
Outside, Hooper has been busy. It uses up his energy. He saw the black squirrel in the tree, but by the time he climbed up, GONE!
The deer amble about, caught on the trailcams.

I'm sitting looking at snow. Not your snow. Our snow! It came overnight and is still falling. Hey ho. As messy as it is for you, I am certain having all that water in the ground is a positive thing. YAM xx
It's rather bad taste to publish sunny beach photos when your friends are deep in snow and ice. Wait another month, the photos will still be relevant.
And the deer just let JB walk on by without a worry.
We have had storms in parts of the UK but nothing like your snow.
Roll on warmer spring weather.
Your friends orchid blooms are nice and your paperwhites are doing well.
All the best Jan
We’ ve had a tiny bit of melt, nothing significant so far and fingers crossed, it won’t get away from us. Snowing tonight. Love to see your critters. No turkeys here...they’re all down your way, :)
...the spring thaw hasn't too bad this year. I passed a river in southern NYS this week and was surprise to see how low the water was. Enjoy your week.
Hooper is such a hunter! :)
I love your bunny planter! And I hope this week the weather is nicer and things dry out. Love seeing all the critters but you really do have a lot to deal with now that the temps are up and down. Hugs!
We don't have snow in Mumbai hence always fascinating to see/read about it. :)
Beautiful blog, with the snow.
Great that so many deer are walking around with you.
The videos are great too.
best regards Irma
There has been a fair amount of localized flooding here. Nothing too serious yet, fortunately. Yesterday we were opening up all the bluebird and Tree Swallow boxes to have them ready for the breeding season about to start, and a couple were well out into ponds instead of being at the edge of the water, and we will have to wait a couple of weeks to get to them.
great wildlife. Love to see that you are able to get close to them. Where I live deers take off before you hardly was visible :(
