We've finally tested positive for COVID-19 in Ottawa, our closest city. It is in 5 provinces, so far. There were 42 cases in Ontario, 113 in Canada; 1322 in the US. The USA isn't testing citizens freely, however. There are a lot of Americans complaining online that their rules around testing are very limited. Canadians coming back from the US have brought the virus here. The only way to get on top of this pandemic is to identify it and isolate carriers.
We're vulnerable being seniors. Also, as we both just finished a horrid upper respiratory infection. I am susceptible, as when I get a cold virus, I always get bronchitis and viral-induced asthma. JB is susceptible, as he had this virus for 3 months, using two puffers. I only had it a month, but it flattened me.
Our weather has been up and down. I'm anxious for spring and a change to the weather. We had a brief snowfall yesterday. Not enough to accumulate, however. I ended up popping open the plugs on both water barrels. I was a bit early. Overly anticipatory, I guess. Looking at the 7-day forecast I thought I'd be okay. NOT! We expect rain tonight, into tomorrow.
Meantime, backyard tales...
CINNAMON had a bit of an adventure! It's a long video, but he really seemed to want to make friends with the deer. I watched carefully, ready to yell at the deer, if need be. He ended up playing in the ditch, in the snow, looking for mice friends.

You two seem vulnerable, so do take care. After some deliberation, we are going to go ahead and meet friends for coffee this afternoon. It is a standard date unless something else comes up.
Toilet paper shortage - that's indeed peculiar.
There are certain plant leaves that can substitute for toilet paper. The older people among us also remember the use of newspapers both in wrapping fish, and in toilet "hygiene".

...now is a time for leadership, too bad that the US doesn't have a leader.
Stay safe Jenn, do not go out into the crowds, keep away from cafes, crowded supermarkets, or big events. We are also in the age group where we do not feel truly safe from this, and are being extra vigilant. Almost every shop, not only the cafes, have hand sanitiser on the front shelf, or a special cabinet. One dispenser, very clever, place your palm under, and a blob comers out automatically. We have stocked up as much as we think necessary, and could last for several weeks if we had to be isolated. Not sure if we will be able to meet the family when they are in NZ in April, distance travel is also not on our list now. Loved the video, one deer with the traditional hoof stamping loudly on the ground, were they afraid???

Covid -19 is still very mysterious. we have very little info on what it will do. Look after yourselves .Keep well.
We're pretty safe here, Jean. There are only 42 cases in Ontario, and we are doing rigorous testing in Canada. I do wish we'd bought a bidet instead of a regular toilet when we replaced it!
We can order groceries online, too, then pick them up outside the store. That ight be the way to go if things get worse here. So far isolation has been working in Ontario.
There aren't any crowds here. We'll have lots of fun next week with the girls. Life is good!
