Tree frogs and wood frogs are singing in the wetland

First were the spring peepers a few days ago.
Next, I heard the tree frogs. You cannot see them as they are clustered down by the wetland and in frogpond singing for love!
(These frogs I photographed last summer and fall.) They hang out at the house in summer, getting into plants and into my mailbox, once mating season is over.
They change colour, too!

I'd been digging in the garden, then went for a forest walk.

The tree frogs - their pitch is very high.

The frog pond this week, melting and teeming with life;
a few tadpoles, many spiders, and birds.

The wood frogs sound more like chickens clucking! You can hear both on the video.

As I approached both the pond and the wetland, the tree frogs seemed to settle after I paused. The wood frogs, floating on the surface of the water, were pretty shy. They wouldn't start

singing for 10 minutes. It was a bit of a lesson in failure, as I couldn't get close at all.

There is much to eat. No sign of mosquito larvae yet. It was a beautiful day at the frog pond, in the wetland.

I took a walk down to the blog. You can hear the chirping of the wood frogs as well as the higher pitched tree frogs.
