Not much yellow around our frozen lake!
I feel I must explain the photo. While I try to be positive...
I have blogged elsewhere about the noise, smell and annoyance from these machines. They drive over cracking ice, scare our faithful cats. They are accidents waiting to happen, or already happened.

Great action shot. Looks like so much fun.

Ha, maybe not but you captured it well! Wonderful image! And as much as I love winter, though.....I am READY for spring! Thanks for sharing!
Hate the things but a great shot none the less. I just found your blog and have been enjoying reading it. I spend much of my youth in the Georgian Bay area(Parry Sound, French River) but my very first experience was a rented cottage in Bala! I love this area, I also appreciate the struggle between recreational and city folk. We want out of the rat race but we also want our amenities. I live on Haida Gwaii now but am visiting Ontario for a couple of months. I will continue to read your blog and share your issues. Thanks for sharing and Happy Spring.

Thanks for stopping by. I am glad I found your blog. Up in the higher country here in Powell River the ATV riders like to play polo on the frozen lake ice. I'm not that good yet. I see your cats have adapted to the snow. When my mother comes to visit with her cat (we actually gave her our cat to her so she would have a companion), he just stares at the snow from indoors. Pretty much the same with rain. He prefers it warm and cozy. - Margy
Ya gotta do what ya gotta do... lol! Our snow is almost all gone FINALLY... but it's only March, so..
I did yellow today, too! I hope you can come visit.

Have a great weekend!
I think the noise would drive me crazy. When we go to the beach nothing spoils the scene (or the atmosphere) as much as a couple of personal water craft. But you did sget a good picture for the Photohunt.
I am also not fond of these idiot killers! I have a small woods behind me here near St Clair Lake in Michigan....I understand that noise too! Great action shot though! My hunt is up, please come and visit
Thank you for your visit and comment.
We read about the recent accidents including a mother and daughter die in ATV accident on Muskoka lake. What a sad story..
Noise pollution is a big factor everywhere.
The silent areas of so called peace of nature are significant from human wellness, recreation, comfort, and among others natural tourism point of view. Silence generates extra values and is a significant attraction factor. Nature also needs the silence, though it does produce certain sounds itself. Therefore, the silence of nature does not mean any full silence, rather it does include different sounds of nature's own, such as the song of birds, the sound of rushing water or that of rustling wind. These sounds are certainly not, anyhow, found unpleasant by anyone. Nature's silence and its sounds are a precious component of experiencing nature.
I would love to see a ban of water vehicles to preserve the natural peace within our country sites. The area would be a paradise for canoeists, paddlers, and hikers who all rely on muscle power.
Will this happen? No, but I hope to preserve nature as it is now.

There are some lakes that have a ban for motorized vehicles. It reflected a keen awareness, back in th 60s & 70s, for a respect for nature.
I don't think a ban is something you can do these days.
The problem is that many folks around our township rent their cottages to those who demand motorboat access to exploit the lakes.
Hi Jenn,
Interesting info, very sad that people can't see the dangers.
Not sure who is doing MTM this week, my post will be up for midnight GMT!!!
