We had manager Jamie in from Aussie Tree Care for a quote on taking down our dead elms in the upper meadow (Dutch Elm disease 😑). They are still seeding themselves, but not surviving too long. In the meantime, I worked on trimming this Maple (on the right) on the driveway. The propane delivery people back up the driveway, and I want to make it easier to see.
I'm not sure one can see a difference! Maybe that is a good thing. I used the reciprocating saw on the branches. It takes ages, since it doesn't hold a charge too long, even with my spare battery. OK, I must be honest, I don't last too long either, with saw dust blowing in my eyes, and holding the heavy tool.
It is time for Autumn decor, as many are doing inside and outside their homes. I like the changes in seasons, and changing things up. Maybe it is just that after doing bulletin boards and display cases in school for 25 years, it's in my blood!
I'm at the point where I forget where I've put things, and find them in a different season. I may run with that some time, just to keep everyone on their toes! 😆
I took out the Fall flag, and found life imitating art.
The horse chestnut tree is providing much food for the Dratted Red Squirrel (DRS). They have a little collection under the tree. I've never seen both the black squirrel and red squirrel eating them like they have been this year.
🕷Can you see it?!

I've moved Peter to the deck. Last year I put pine cones in his wheelbarrow.
I thought he could carry the chestnuts in his wheelbarrow until winter, when the critters are desperate. Apparently, they are desperate now!
All that was left in the wheelbarrow was one chestnut, and a cluster of rose hips. Apparently, they were good eating! Ain't nature grand?!

...we would be hard pressed to find an elm tree here.
Your critters are taking over the place! But it seems just the way you like it, so I'm all for it.
My wife is transitioning the decor to fall right now. Of course she is hosting her book group next week so she has to be done for that.
I took down some big branches yesterday, and I admit my shoulders were a bit sore this morning. Now that I've had my coffee and moved around I'm not feeling it. Love Jeremiah!
As you run into Fall, here we have spring, but the rain seems to have forgotten winter is over, and very wet again this morning. The wheelbarrow is a handy parking spot for the food, they surely know where to look.
Nature is indeed grand. I suspect the battery would last longer than I would with that heavy work.
You and the critters are all getting ready.
The critters soon catch on when we lay out food. The deer trimmed my petunias.
Working with all those tree limbs looks like very heavy labor. I don’t think squirrels and other animals consider that they might wait to eat something that looks good! I like the wheelbarrow boy — even if they took everything out of his wheelbarrow.

That empty wheelbarrow makes a funny story. Those critters were either desperate already or else (and more likely) they just found easy pickins'!!! Why go to a lot of work when somebody just hands you dinner in a wheelbarrow )) Your Autumn header shot is just beautiful.... not much color hereabouts yet. (We're in western Oregon and we still apparently think its summer).

Yes, Nature is fabulous - and I love your encouragement of it! YAM xx
I like "Peter" very much & what a great place to offer up some nibbles for the wild life. My elderberry bush is just about bare of berries now & I was hoping they would last just a little longer as the migrating Cedar Wax Wings would stop in to enjoy ... darn squirrels :)
The colors are slowly popping up here. I like your flag and the Peter sculpture. Take care, have a great day!
