The mourning dove

This mourning dove has been a hoot, watching me stack wood,

–then sitting on top of the feeder. It didn't let the blue jays drive it off, which is highly unusual. It looks a bit frowsy, but I think it's just getting its winter feathers!

It didn't budge when JB walked by. It was there about 20 minutes!

They are lovely birds, cooing as if in mourning.

Here is how they should look, fully feathered.

Gander, the story of ordinary people who opened their homes and hearts, and left memories with the stranded passengers for their lifetime. Unimaginable. The dove, the feather description, so fitting.

Jenn, I like frowsy too. Mourning doves are usually sweet birds. Haven’t seen any here now for several weeks.
