Now, Sept. 27th was the day of protest in Canada. Our kids went to Parliament Hill in their electric car, marching with the Greens. Many marched, Greta Thuneberg led them in Montreal.
I must say, that while the young people are leading them, we used to have a robust curriculum around the environment. This was prior to our Ontario Curriculum, revised in 1991, whereby big business influenced the provincial government to remove some of the more powerful pieces of the curriculum. There were three of us, teaching gr. 6 in a middle school, and we had a robust curriculum we planned out together. We had 200 kids do much in the way of understanding reduce–reuse–recycle. We did research, understood about renewable resources, pollution, and it culminated in and Earth Day assembly where we shared our knowledge.
WOW. Over 600,000 (!!!) people across Canada marched yesterday in the #GlobalClimateStrike. We are beyond inspired by the passionate and powerful voices fighting for our future. #ClimateStrike #FridaysForFuture pic.twitter.com/M9JSa9EMr7— David Suzuki FDN (@DavidSuzukiFDN) September 28, 2019

My late mother in law worked for Pollution Probe. She was recycling and composting in a condo in Peterborough before it was a "thing".
Well worth marching for.
It was a heartening turnout, especially in Montreal.
so many people marching all over the world.
Sad that your old eco-friendly curriculum was overturned.
