Lazy, hazy days of summer

As summer ends...lots of flowers are in bloom. We've had a heat wave, which doesn't prepare anyone for going back to school tomorrow!
Down on the dock, a frog was enjoying the structure! Another one seemed to be smiling at me!

I was on the back deck, when I spotted a doe and fawn!

They were worried about something in the trees. Guess who?!

Lots of bugs about: larval and adult katydid and mosquitoes! The katydids have been singing up a storm in the night. They are quite distinct. "Katy did, katy didn't!" You can hear them in this video.
Dorah has been bringing them in at night. Three nights in a row.

much too hot and humid though, we need a break in this weather.........couple more days I am guessing. Love the photos of the deer.

Yes, the humidity continues for back to school tomorrow. The grandkids are excited to go back. Granddaughter had a good time finding frogs on Friday when she was here.

So if you're patient and don't fall asleep you see many interesting things on the dock.

Bugs, insects, frogs, but the best is the doe and her fawn, beautiful markings. Enjoy those last days before autumn truly arrives in all its glorious colours.

Such beautiful wild neighbours -- especially the fawn!

The deer look in good shape!

We went to a meeting at the airport tonight and saw three deer grazing just outside the fence. We have to be very careful about shutting all the gates to keep them out and off the runway. In the past there have been deer strikes, not a pretty sight for deer or man. - Margy
