We had a mission...

We were heading out for dinner, while the school busses were bringing the kiddies home from school. Such a familiar sight!

An early dinner, when things are quiet.

I was a bit surprised to see these machines! You can read the menu, pay your bill, we just relied on our server!

As we went to dinner, I saw people working in the fields harvesting pumpkins. On the way home, there they were, bringing the pumpkins to the farm!

This is where we were headed. Miller's Bay Farm. On the way home, we stopped for Thanksgiving pumpkins.

There was pressure, as the kids were coming.  I thought Peter ought to be following the brief: it is Autumn!
Peter put all his eggs in one basket. I thought I could better than that! Gourds from the farm.

I'm still watering my cherry tomato plant and the hanging basket of petunias, but they won't last too much longer.

I decorated a pie pumpkin with turkey, barred owl, and blue jay feathers. We were in Ottawa last year for Thanksgiving. This year the kids were coming here from Ottawa.

This morning it is a chilly one. Only 3 ℃ we'll bundle up.

3C, that's cold!!! I asked Josh what winter clothing he might need, but perused /read, looked at several websites in Vancouver and see it's far better to buy locally.Love the pumpkin collection and display.

So glad you had a good dinner out. Nice before you tackle feeding the hoards on Monday! Loved Peter's new barrel-full of gourds, and the string of pumpkins, but Mr. Turkey takes the prize.

You had a couple of missions there. One was to find a good pumpkin.

Your turkey is adorable. You are talented. I think I saw where your Thanksgiving is the middle of October. Is this correct? I know you have a lot of preparations going on. How neat the see the pumpkins being harvested and brought in to the farm.

I liked seeing the pumpkins on the way home from the field.

Sigh... This is so much fun! We used to buy pumpkins and carve them when we lived in Illinois. I haven't seen any actual pumpkins that are not plastic on display here in Hawaii. Perhaps they would rot too quickly in our warm Hawaiian climate.

I thought those auto kiosk sort of things were only in places like McD’s.

Wow! You sure decorated beautifully!
This morning we had a frost so it came about the right time of the year.
Have a wonderful Holiday with the kids!

What a lovely place to have a meal out and so nice to see you both. I haven’t caught up with the machines yet. I would enjoy Peter taking up residence here. He seems to enjoy carrying each seasonal goody.
