I must admit to being really unsettled. Politics is something I have to turn off. Our provincial issues are terrible, with an Ontario Premier trying to act as Toronto mayor and cancelling bike lanes.
Our Canadian media is controlled by foreign owners. China has been caught influencing the election of Conservatives. This is a biased article. Even our polling agencies have been strangely biased.
Federally, the media is trying to shape policies and convince us that our Prime Minister should not run again. I figure let the Liberals make that decision.
People keep blaming the wrong level of government for particular issues. It's very clear who is in charge of what...
Then there is the American election. There is so much going on.
I do find peace in forest walks. Sort of! At 60 seconds in, you can hear the motorcycles 450m away on the highway. I won't be sad when they put them away for winter!
The petunias are still blooming.

Wow, the petunias are going strong! All of our flowers, except the verbena are done. I switched to those instead of petunias a few years back as they are a little easier. In one pot, they are still going!
What a beautiful yard you have.
We hear motorcycles too in the far distance...but mostly now we hear the corn dryers running a mile away. I like it when they fall silent in the winter also.
Have a great weekend.
Your flowers look pretty! I love your heron statues.
Take care, Happy Friday and have a great weekend.
There you go, a walk in the forest and ignoring news for the next two weeks sounds like the perfect remedy to the chaos we are all going through right now!
Your water fowl seem stiff with the cold. Just had to say that. Linda in Kansas
Yes, just stepping into a forest does that. It's like getting a bath, where some kind of stress cloak is removed immediately, and then you get refreshed by the air. Oh the wonderful air. Right now my windows are being blasted by orange maple leaves in the sunshine, sending the rays into all areas of my house. This is so much more uplifting to me than the greens of summer from these very same leaves.
Your pics are beautiful. You have captured fall with your pumpkins. Nice that you still have some blooms. When do you expect a frost?
I forget, when you say facing south, that it is warmer. We face the Antarctic !!! Those petunias, how they last so long, a real bonus.
Sigh. I find politics (around the world) depressing and unsettling. I get a lot of comfort from the natural world (and worry about it too). You are not alone.
The petunias are so pretty.
My petunias bit the dust a long time ago. I have been avoiding politics and all the PP commercials when I can.
I have enjoyed all of your photos. We are having a Presidential election and it is a very important one. I guess they all are, but this one seems to be major. I recently wrote a post on the upcoming election and how it has me stressed. I honestly think it is a very Good post, but when I asked my husband his thoughts on me posting it, we both decided that it would be not to. Our Country is so divided and I do love blogging, so I would not want to cause any issues with my blogging friends. Happy Weekend...I need to find a nice comfy place to walk
I read a long post by someone who had a terrible experience in ER. They blamed Trudeau. How can an adult Canadian not know that health care is a provincial jurisdiction?
Petunias are tough. What is it that our politicians don't get about reality?
Hi Jenn -- I know I won't be able to catch up with you and am curious about the gun range stuff -- if that's still happening (It seems like before I left another meeting or hearing or something was scheduled.) I was glad to be in England during October and not have to listen to US campaign commercials and such. They are everywhere and since I've been home two days have been bombarded with them on everything. You all seem in the same boat with too much and loads of misinformation. And it's a very scary year. But I digress. I'll be spotty visiting for another week or so (which you'll understand on my blog post!) but looking forward to catching up.
I am scared stiff for this election. Arrrghhhh!
