Friday, May 17th, the indigo bunting showed up. These photos are through the window!
The mourning dove tried to get in on the action.
The female rose-breasted grosbeak, with the purple finch in the background. She has such lovely colouring.
The male rose-breasted grosbeak was prepared to share with Dratted Red Squirrel.
I toddled back down to the frog pond, and the goose was sitting on the dock. She let me get pretty close, then trundled off. The batteries in the trailcam were at 40% and I popped in some more while I recharged the rechargables.
On my way back to the house, a scarlet tanager landed right in front of me.

Back out in the afternoon, more birdies! I sat on the front step to take these photos.

The hummingbird feeder is doing great business. They are here often.
Also, we've not had any ticks. This is good news. Daisy was always the tick magnet. Historical data: 🕷️TICKS 2019.

Oh your birds!! We only had indigo buntings for a couple of years and I couldn't stop seeking them out and staring at them. I was mortified when our cat caught and killed one, leaving it as a gift on the back porch. I guess he was attracted to them as well. The scarlet tanager is incredible. Wish we had those, too! -Jenn

It's tick season here, too. Out walking in the woods can be a challenge keeping them off!

I'm delighted to see colorful birds: blue, red, green. Where I live, I see only grey ones - different shades of grey, but still grey. Nevertheless, I enjoy watching them and whenever possible - feeding them.

We ate still waiting for our first Indigo Bunting. They are all around us and we know several people who have had them as feeder visitors, but so far they have missed us. You have been getting a very nice variety.

Amazing selection of bird visitors. We’ve only had the indigo bunting a couple of times and never the scarlet tanager. We were away April out west visiting famiky, Just getting back into blog visiting.
Wow! The coloring on your birds are so spectacular! I don't recall ever seeing colors like those in Illinois, except the gold finches.
