Wood ducks and raccoons galore!

I am continuing to watch the flooding along the Ottawa River.  You can read my updates here:
Flooding in Ontario and QuébecThere is a video of the aquadam in Cumberland. It is fascinating. There was a second fire in Constance Bay, and the power is about to be turned off. This does not bode well for residents depending upon electric pumps. Not only that, but the water is expected to peak, while snow and/or rain is on the way.

OK, let's take a break and toddle on down to the frog pond, my happy place. The nests are busy. The 🐤WOOD DUCKS have laid eggs in only one nest. Another has downy feathers, so preps are on the way. The is busily nest building. The 🐣Phoebe finally settled on the shed. They slow down in this colder weather. We'll see how that goes.

Wood ducks (13?), as well as 3 male mallards visit.

The males pay close attention to their female. This pair seems to be having a conversation!

I set the trailcam to video and captured these fellas!

I put a few kernels of corn in the pot on the end of the dock. Butch, and a wee red squirrel, visit it.

Raccoons don't seem too much into sharing.

It's easy to see why the frog pond is your happy place. There's a lot of interesting activity going on day and night.

I don't think I've ever heard raccoons chattering before.

Looks like the worst is yet to come. It's so sad when floods come and do so much damage.

Hello,

The pond is a great place for wildlife. I love the Wood Ducks. The Raccoon are cute but can be a pain to have around. Love the photos and videos.

Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend.

Love the Wood Ducks - so pretty! We have plenty of raccoons here. If we don't leave sunflower seed on the ground for them, they tear up our bird feeders! Amazing how they can climb up a slender metal pole to the feeders.
We are having lots of rain here in the southern US, too.
Have a great weekend!
