Muskoka
Residents in Central Ontario, are doing the blame game in Muskoka. Swift River is being blamed for their flooding. Swift River explains...
The Bala Hydro Project is part of the Muskoka River Watershed. There are 42 dams located within the watershed. Of these, 29 are owned/operated by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF), 12 are owned/operated by private companies and 1 by the District Municipality of Muskoka. The Muskoka River Water Management Plan governs the appropriate water levels throughout the spring, summer, fall and winter, and the MNRF directs how dam operators will coordinate to ensure this happens. MNRF currently controls the North and South dams at Bala.
These photos were taken in Bala today(May 1st) and as you can see water levels are high, so again it can’t be stressed enough to be safe! @MuskokaLakesTwp pic.twitter.com/PDNJE164Gs— YourTV Muskoka (@yourtvmuskoka) May 1, 2019

Nearby Mississippi Lake has settled down. We visited last week (see first post, at the bottom) and took water and muffins. The Red Cross is now in Ottawa flood zones, helping the victims, volunteers and troops. We've 700 troops and 2000 volunteers working to put in sandbags. Firefighters are doing wellness checks by boat to see how people are doing.
The Petawawa Bridge has been shut down. This is Google maps, but you see how high the water is to do that.
We continue to have flooding along the Ottawa River, with peaks from rainfall and snow melt not yet done. One million sandbags have been filled across the city. The Lemieux water plant is at risk, the troops have been sandbagging it.
One evacuated family, in Constance Bay, had a fire in their home. CTV Ottawa has been covering the disaster.

Oh, dear. My heart goes out to anyone experiencing a flood -- or any other force of nature.
Instead of that rain, we could desperately use a good couple of weeks of dry weather.
