Mice friends and rain reports

The pantry...
Another adventure. JB found one of his special fibre granola bars had a hole in one end. There were crumbs. He didn't look too much further, but threw it out, just in case. Later, I was in the pantry, and pulled out the can that contains our crackers for snackies. Behind the can: mice poo. Sigh.

We have a lot of deer mice. They do tend to get into the attic, then they come into the house looking for food. I usually pop them outside. A story on The Weather Network says they are looking to get cool in this hot weather, as much as they are looking for food. Also, they are looking for water. We have a bird bath and a water fountain. I don't think that is the case here. Nor is construction moving them, as in the city of Ottawa.

Now, there is a large hole in the floor, with a tri-colour rubber ball down there. I don't know. Don't ask! The hole was meant (I think) for the phone line that used to come in. The old owners had a phone line. They took it out before they moved. There used to be a stackable washer/dryer here, as well, with all the plumbing for it. Now, it is just a pantry.

It's a clean pantry. I purged, and cleaned the shelves. THREE cats! :-)

I'm not the only one...

More mice scurry into Ottawa homes for relief from a hot, dry summer ...

Mon., July 23 - The invasion of mice into people's homes usually happens later in the year -- not in the middle of July.

On the rain front: we had 31 mm Wednesday. The goldfish pond is about to overflow. It is lovely.

Poor Daisy has another eye infection. Thankfully we still have the ointment to put in her eyes. She is looking better. I just have to remember the 'twice a day.'
She spent the entire day, with 31 mm of rain, on the back deck. We've had the air conditioner on, it's been so hot.

There was a video everyone with any heart for refugees should watch. Or anyone who wants confirmation that there is hope for the future and humanity. I taught students who fled that country.
Watch the incredible moment a Swedish student stopped the deportation of an asylum seeker to Afghanistan.

mice can be cute, but not indoors :( Not fun!

Have not heard about the incident you share. But things like that happens now and then in Sweden. Some officials are bending rules en a very peculiar way :(

Mice - another good reason why declutter the house. Mice and ticks don't come into places where they could easily be spotted, but usually in more crowded spaces.

Yes, we have two cats, and I think they would pretty useless if we ever had mice in the house … sigh. I hope you can find an effective solution to the problem. So pleased you have had rain .. maybe there is hope for Montana - we have been away for a week, but I have been watching the weather and I think we are going on a month without rain!

Three cats, and not one of them doing their job!

We have not been catching mice in the garage like we sometimes do, but the traps are always set because you never know when.

Mice might look very cute, but I do not like them at all. Yours look so friendly there, but in the pantry, nibbling on that special breakfast food, that is a No NO !!!

I hate mice in a house. When I was a kid on the farm we quite often had mice in the house.

We used to have a "little goldfish pond" at our old house! Our grandson give us 6 little gold fish and and in 10 years they grew into 26 large goldfish when we moved. We were able to find a lady who would take them to her very large pond! Thank you for sharing! It was grand!

Our garter snake must have had babies. I saw a very small snake for the first time. Usually they are full grown guys. - Margy
