Low and High Flyers

Speaking of flying things!

In the night, in the dark, the white-lined sphinx moth. We still have fireflies, as well, but the bugs deter me from capturing them on camera!

It took me SIX tries, but I got him in focus!

This one was easier.

The, there are the swallowtails: Eastern  Tiger Swallowtail and Black Giant Swallowtail.

I captured two in the same few minutes, from atop the back deck!

So many butterflies this year. The population is good. I'm seeing a LOT of bumblebees on my (VERY LATE) allium.

The Swallowtail feeding right IN the day lily, that is a super video. I saw a monarch the other day, alive down here in winter instead of hibernating under a pine tree further north. It was on the Rosemary shrub,Maybe just warming up in the feeble sunshine.

A video would make it easier to identify.
