Critters are out and about

There are quite a few robins about. I liked these trailcam photos. One captured mid-flight.

These are the first deer we've seen in a few weeks. There were 4 Monday, playing in the meadow.

This was the first day I'd put out laundry!

From the trailcam at night! I love the eyes in the dark, and the way the deer was so curious. Butch raccoon just ignored it. I made a slideshow in iPhotos.

Singing at the top of its lungs.

There was a chickadee gathering up Annabelle fur for a nest! It was comical. This is through a window.

Hummingbirds

The flowers are out, too. I've heard reports of regional hummingbirds, so I put out the orchid cactus, as well as hummer feeder. The Orchid Cactus species is like a Christmas Cactus on steroids. The leaves are huge, the flowers the size of my palm.

As I edit this (Thursday, May 9th), I just saw a hummingbird! (Archive photo! We don't have leaves out, yet.)

My forsythia is hiding behind the evergreen on the right. We cannot see it from the house, so I have to remember to go look for it.

As I motored around on the lawn tractor, I paused for a daffodil photo!

And the fishies are out in the pond! It was a tad chilly Tuesday night ( 6 ˚ C.-ish). Whoopsie. They are fine, though. The water was 12˚ C., but they are fine.

Indoors the terrarium has had some success. Only one more plant died! sigh. I shall have to rethink it. The problem is keeping it just moist enough, and not too wet. I'll keep working on it.

Meantime, the flicker is still working on this nest! Can you hear it?

Wednesday

After our big trip, my energy rallied. Out I went in the afternoon. I did the lawn, and the tractor started after I charged it. I love getting out on the tractor.

I used my axe to try and move a fallen tree. I did NOT break a nail. Happy dance. It's the tree that has fallen on my garden. I managed to move the branches off the garden, and made a path for the lawn tractor. I still need a helper with a chain saw.

Cats

I spotted Hooper and Annabelle sitting snuggling on the bench. By the time I grabbed the camera, Annabelle had moved away. Trust me on this, though. He seems quite attached to her.

Later, hubby had his lap full.

I filled the birdbath, so far, so good. The reveal: the new birdbath pump, in the repaired, cleaned bird bath!

This was at 6 a.m., when it was rainy and a bit dark. I didn't realize it changed colours.

Ducks

Checked on the phoebe, no eggs. Lots of duck eggs. All three nesting boxes are full.  (I shall miss them soon!) Read their 2019 progress here: 🐤WOOD DUCKS.
You can see a male wood duck sitting on the top of the box, just off camera!

See her in the box?

Can you count them?! This is box #2. I'm thinking 10, but they usually lay 12.

At my client's house, I was watching her phoebes in the tree, madly going after the bugs!

My client loves the window feeder, she's getting quite a few birds at it. It makes her day.

Wow, so much to see on this post. I love the deer. The kitties are adorable. The hummers are always a treat to see. Neat capture of the duck flying out of the house. Our fish did not last in the pond, we had hawks eating the fish. Love the flowers , videos and photos. Thanks for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend. PS, thank also for leaving me a comment.

Happy spring, Jenn! So much happening on your side of the world. Your water fountain is so much fun. Gee... Your orchid cactus looks exactly like my Christmas cactus.

You wonder what the deer think of hanging laundry.

It's really something to see those eyes shining in the dark! I've always loved walking at night but maybe don't want to see what's watching me. Thanks for sharing your pics this week! Great...as always!

So nice to see the deer majestically strolling around.

Our pheobe has decided to nest over the door after all! Everything on your patch is so far ahead of us....yet we are so close. You must be 4A? I think we are 4B.

You get a lot done in a day. You could make a cartoon about where you walked the whole day.
