October is done!

The horse chestnut tree still has some leaves. The lilacs have lost quite a few.

Now that the leaves are down, I can see where they nested. I was oblivious, of course.

This is what the trees looked like!

Also, in the front yard, I noticed that the elm that was dying of Dutch Elm Disease, which we had cut down, has started throwing out some branches.

Happily, the frog pond is filling up. I'd say there is a layer of about 20 cm or 8" water on top of the muck in the bottom where the critters are sleeping. We had ~35 mm rain last night. I'm anxious to see how it looks today. We have fierce winds, though.

I mulched some leaves and made a path. This way it isn't as slippery as we walk the paths. I don't do much raking, there really isn't any point. This is fun, though.

I caught myself on the tralcam. I got stuck, at the end!

What a lot of rain!

This morning it turned to hail.

I do like this time of the year - despite the increasing cold. Something restorative about drawing inwards and hunkering down...YAM xx

The ride-on mower looks like a lot of fun! I don't rake either, just the path and the area near the car, it's true there is no point. We just mow it all in the spring. It's good for the grass. I can't stand seeing people who have PLASTIC bags of leaves lined up on garbage day! But to each his own I guess! We have those fierce winds today, lost power off and on.

time for winter woollies. Love the trailcam video, great to know you do not have to use a push mower.

It was really windy here but we didn't get any heavy rain, just long rain. I need some sunlight!

Fall can give some variable weather that isn't pleasant.

We cut down an oak tree a few years back and that keeps growing strange branches. I've cut them off several times but they just grow back more vigorously.
