The big birthday; 2nd part

JB turned 70 on Friday, and we had a big party in Ottawa. We had plans. Jesse, and his kidlets, Cluny and Bryony, arrived Thursday night from Vancouver. We were all excited. Caitlin picked them up. They were staying with them in Ottawa. We drove into the city and stayed in a motel. This worked out really well. It's what we did last year for Christmas.

First, to Perth... lots of icicles.

Next, drop the kittens off at the vet while we are away. They couldn't be boarded at the kennel, since they haven't completed their first series of shots. Note the licence plate: TIGGER63 !

We passed the park and ride. There was a police car, parked, blocking a red car in back of it. I wonder the story!

The river is quite frozen. Despite this, there were lots of geese in the fields, in Fallowfield. We didn't bother stopping and turning around to snag a proper photo. On the way home, they were gone. Farmers are still harvesting the cow corn.

I did some research, geese can fly about 65 KPH (40 mph),  but can get up to 110 kph (70 mph) when migrating with tailwinds. They migrate up to 2400 km (1500 mi.) per day on good days. No wonder they were gone!

In the big city. Construction on Moodie!

We settled into our hotel room, and went for lunch. We overlooked the patio, it was snowing, and sleeting, though. Happily, JB made a reservation, as Friday lunch is very busy.

From here, we went to Caitlin's house. Cluny (4 and a HALF, as she clearly stated) knew us, but Bryony (18 mos.) was making strange. She was having a grand time with her cousins, however. She is adorable.

Jesse and his 'Littles,' as the cousins call them, flew all the way from Vancouver to visit! We do Facetime with them, the cousins are well acquainted.

Proper hand washing techniques are taught.

Just before dinner we played outside. The brave souls were me, Isabelle and Cluny! Izzy had to fix up the snowman's eyes 4 or 5 times! It reminded me of yard duty.

There was a yummy dinner, hamburgs and hot dogs, followed by apple pie, with candles. Grampa bought himself some hair. I'd snuck his present onto the front porch, and asked the girls to fetch it for me. It is a table top curling game. We'll have fun with that later.

Grampa made a fine speech. He's good at that stuff!

You should post that 'chilling' photo at the top of this post to Rain's Thursday art Date's 'Chilling' theme this week. Photos are welcome.
