November is here!

We had winds and hail Friday morning! It's been terrible across both Ontario and Quebec. The leaves of the catalpa tree covers the goldfish pond. It's a lovely sound. We put on the snow tires, so we're good.

It was a storm.
The winds caused power outages right across Ontario.

Meantime, do you remember the northern flicker nest cavity? I knew it would be trouble later. Creating a nesting cavity weakens the dead elm tree trunk. Funny story, I was looking for a long time to find an image of the cavity. I'd remember the tenant as a cedar waxwing. Wrong! A flicker.

Sure enough...

Then, the poor sumac. I'm going to have to work at this. They are too heavy to move without cutting them up. I'll use the reciprocal saw. I'll need the wagon or wheelbarrow. I'm still pretty sore from going up and down the ladder yesterday. sigh.

The frog pond filled nicely with the rain.

Another branch off in the meadow.

This was a task! The large catalpa leaves ended up in the eavestrough. It was cold, and I wore gloves, but getting the muck out of the eaves was messy and I had to remove them. The metal ladder is frigid. I knew it'd be colder today, though. I'm glad it is done. They aren't usually this bad but the wind just ripped them off the tree.

Little teeny hail!

As I was exploring the damage, I heard something in the forest. The trailcam captured the action. It was a buck who ran off.

I still have dirt to move, too!

Also, on my walk, likely the last of these. The eat insects, who will be sleeping soon!

In case you couldn't see it! They will be back in late March (Spring approaches!).

Mike has the family lining up to get snowtires on today. He has the equipment to do quickly in our garage.
We had some more snow this morning but it is rapidly melting.
I heard the hunters out back this morning. We've had them jack deer on the hill right behind the house in years past. Hearing the shooting puts me on edge.

Lots of snow in central and northern Ontary-ary-ario! I understand about the shooting, Karen. I heard them this morning. It gives me the creeps.

Cleaning the gutters is so hard, we once had a gadget a bit like a hook, and it saved fingers and hands . Too cold to be up there. Love the leaves everywhere, they are so pretty in deep colours.

November came in clear and COLD here in Tennessee. I'm glad you got through that bad storm relatively unscathed. I think the clean up to get ready for winter is the hardest work of the season.

A lot of work to be done.

The wind finished off a lot of the leaves still on the trees.

I heard about your storm. One wonders whee that comes from at this time of year.

You’re a heckuva worker.

I hate snow tires. I was just thinking that we didn’t use that in over three decades back in sarnia. This region is a different story, however.

Winter is coming and we are leaving Monday in our RV for California. Don't want to winterize it so we are leaving in a hurry to catch a week of sunny weather, - Margy
