OPP, Lyme Disease, Bank Fraud, 🐭

Thanks for your well wishes. Joe Brian is on Doxycycline for a month. He is sleeping a little better, his sweats and chills aren't waking him up. He is napping and resting. I'm ordering groceries online these days!

When we went into town Tuesday, June 25th, to get JB's Lyme Disease diagnosis, we noticed something going on in town. I counted two ambulances, a fire truck, tow truck, and several OPP cars, lights flashing.

Online, I found out what happened! TEN collisions, both deer and tourists are on the move! School is out, and it is a long weekend in Canada. 

“One car in the lane accelerated in reverse causing a crash,” the release states, causing two vehicles to sustain enough damage that they had to be towed from the scene."

I came in from working on my fish tank. I managed to work on it some, then decided to tip it over. That was easier, in a way. I have a new method of attack! (I'm not confident...😜)

The Amaryllis is looking good. The hummingbirds like the Goldfish Plant beside it. Those sweet little orange blossoms...

 

🐭 Sitting in the living room I heard a deer mouse squeaking. Seriously! Looking down the hall I could see Nutmeg. The sound was coming from Nutmeg's mouth. I went to see her and she ran downstairs, releasing Mousie again. It was behind the DVD dresser. I ran the fish net under neath and the mouse ran behind the elliptical machine. I gave up. Nutmeg was on it.

Back upstairs to get dressed for my bank appointment, I heard something in the hall. She'd brought her mouse back upstairs and dropped it in the foyer, under the net. Grabbing the net, I caught it and released it outside.

💰There is good news/bad news about our fraud incident. While they said they will reimburse us, after the fraud department called us, they froze our old accounts. Nothing in or out. I had to go into town to close my old account and create a new one. JB still isn't healthy enough to go tripping into town, our joint accounts will have to wait until next week. 

🕷Today's major project is to go in to the Vet and get anti-tick goop for the cats. They are due for a new dose. We woke to 7 ℃, with a shock. I shall bundle up!

What did we get, rain or snow?

We had rain (14 mm/half"), freezing rain, snow (9 cm Thursday, 7 cm last night = 16cm)!

A massive system. Turning counter-clockwise, starting with a comma shape, it dumped on us. 

In the afternoon, Wednesday, we had hail! 

The winds brought down a lot of wires between Wednesday and Thursday. It began to the west, and spread to eastern Ontario. 

We were lucky! We were surrounded by people who'd lost power. Ours went out in the wee hours, and came back on at 3 a.m.

Percy would complain if he could talk. He is there, in the pond, since my 60 gallon tank leaked! 

The mourning dove just sat there for a long time. It looks totally ticked off with the snow! The trees are drooping Friday morning, today. We expect 5 ℃ today, and maybe the snow will change over to rain. 

It accumulated on the back deck. I had the aquarium pump out back, preparing to clean it. I shall wait.

✿ The daffodils are happy, cozy under the snow. They should be fine as the snow blankets them, and holds in whatever heat there is in the ground.

🐹 Fred, 🐇 Labbit and 🦨 Skunk are hunkered down in dens. Suddenly – not a sign of them.

I ended up building a Leprechaun. Instead of shovelling the back deck (again) I summoned some motivation to make lemons out of lemonade. Sadly, we had another 7 cm overnight!

The good thing is that the ground is warm from our nice weather last month. I won't need to shovel!

 

It looks pretty. 

I worry about this pine tree, however. It lost a lot of branches in past storms [❄️ A Sunday storm ☃️, Dec. 2023]. We'd just had this tree cleaned up April 3rd, from the December 2022 storm.  We spent thousands of dollars getting them cleaned up. 

 

The two bags remaining from the ditch diving are buried under the snow!

🐡 It is still snowing today.  Indoors, my goldfish plant is in bloom, as is the orchid cactus. They are a welcome sight. I can look forward to spring. I appreciate seeing it in blog posts from warmer climes! 

I'm on vacay!

We haven't taken a long vacation in ages. 'We' still haven't! I have taken off with my daughter and two grandies for a lovely 8 days. It's a girls' trip! We're at Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo!
Here is the airline tracker for hubby! You can track a map, in real time, of all airlines as they come and go. You can track all flights, or plug in the flight number, i.e., This is our flight to the Dominican Republic 1788, on the 17th!

Poor JB is home in charge of cats, the thermostat, the litter box, bird feeders, watering indoor plants (orchid cactus, goldfish plant, violets), feeding the goldfish, heated birdbath, and snow (should it fall!).

It's a steep learning curve!

My nonegenarian client is quite worried about him! I've left him the recipe for crockpot oatmeal, which will do him for days. Also, I baked a big meatloaf, one of his faves, which he cut up and put in the freezer. And pasta in the freezer, so he'll be fine! She's going to phone him Saturday to make sure he is OK! (Her late husband loathed being alone.)

I'm not a good traveler. We haven't taken but 2 or 3-day vacays in ages. I have chronic insomnia, I'll see what happens.

The weather doesn't look great, but it will be warm!

The remaining cats, Daisy and Annabelle, will manage. Hubby walks Annabelle in the morning, Daisy in the afternoon. That'll be good. Daisy is still jealous of her sister.

I haven't taken a break from blogging in... well, ever! I hope I don't go through withdrawal. This is post #4173. See you in a week!


The orchid cactus has grown since last winter. I hope it blooms again! Hubby has strict watering instructions!

Firstly, tree frog has moved to the railing. (Remember the one that was on the garage wall!)

I installed this railing from various old cedar rails, just to frame the front deck. Can you see froggie in the first photo?

Then we have last flowers, the bees are frantic these days!
A new frog is in the pond, hope it lasts as it is small enough for the bullfrogs to eat. Geraldine and Jerry have gone underwater, as the pond has been cool.
The Phoebe is still able to catch bugs, so they haven't flown south yet.

I had used Manual Focus for something, and forgot to change it back. This brief moment, with the two girls side-by-each, was fleeting and not in focus. I tried to adjust it but the girls moved. You get the drift!

These are the colours of fall!


The hibiscus are still blooming. I bought 14 from our local store, on sale, and at a discount. I found homes for 11, and Caitlin will get the last three!


My goldfish plant has been growing well in the sunshine in the window. I snagged a sprig from a local coffee bean store, rooted it and planted it. Soon it will be time to bring the actual goldfish in for the winter. This morning it was 6 C., and while they manage outdoors in the winter, I like to bring the big ones in.
