Another chore completed!

It is peculiar how one thing leads to another. I was installing a new piece of lexan in the door for the winter. It usually has a screen. I am most awed by people without screens on their doors. We've way too many bugs for that! In summer I took off the old plexiglass. It had cracked, and it was a mess.

Joseph had picked up the replacement piece for me Friday. I'd dropped it off Thursday on my way to my client's home. JB had 8 stops on Friday, for errands. What a helpmate! I was so anxious, I ran out in my slippers to fetch the piece. It has two pieces of white plastic on it for protection until it is installed.

Lexan plastic is a polycarbonate material that can be used for a variety of things. A lexan sheet has a higher impact resistance than plexiglass but scratches more easily.

The screen is lovely in summer, when it is warmer out than in, but that is not the case now. The cats like to sit in the sunshine on warm winter days, and bird and chipmunk watch.

<=  Here is Daisy or Dorah, relaxing in the sunshine.

Saturday, after we watched the Remembrance Day Ceremony, I thought I'd install the new plexiglass. My able assistant held it in place while I screwed around. I had to predrill holes in the plexiglass, switch drill bits, and then put the bracket on and screw in the nails. I realized that I didn't have enough brackets or screws. I think I used them on other projects.

Joseph went into Smiths Falls for errands and I made him a list, including how many I wanted, and a diagram of said items. Sadly, I totally misjudged how many screws I needed, or I wasn't quite accurate.

I asked for a package, not realizing that what with package downsizing (AKA shrinkflation) that there were only 10 screws in each package. Poor JB had to go out again, and into Perth for me. He is a totally committed to being my personal assistant!

Back home he came, again, screws in hand. Look what he found outside Home Hardware! It is a truck that visits from time-to-time. They are yummy, and usually only found during Winterlude on the canal in February. That's when they are warm and yummy. They come in various flavours. This was cinnamon and sugar. It is sort of a flat donut, but better, since you can put on different toppings.

Joseph has been cleaning up. I was most impressed that he cleared off the island. He had an ulterior motive. He wanted to put his CDs back into their jackets. He's been cleaning out old stuff.

The goldfish pond filled with melted snow. Saturday morning it was frozen over. I'll have to remember to drain the water barrel again. (Non-mental notes don't work!)

We had a delivery for Joseph Brian's birthday on the 15th. His good friend always sends him a book. We appreciate the door-to-door service and usually yell, "Thank you!"

Well, you just turned a screen door into a storm door, kind of. Good job, y'all! Yes, mental notes fly away to another world somewhere, where they have a good laugh at us!

It's great that JB is such a big help to you. He's a gem! I read your post and always enjoy your happenings. Great job on the screen/storm door. I have a storm door in the front of the house, the screen door stays on all year round at the back. I am always opening it to get fresh air in when the weather isn't so bad in the wintertime. I went back to read one of your comments recently, and I couldn't find it. I do hope I didn't delete it by mistake. Many apologies if I did. It has been known to happen every now and again and I end up kicking myself. Have a wonderful weekend!

Guess what??? I had a front seat too and watched the whole ceremony. So moving, so many people attending, and the young to the very old, veterans, service men and women , the choir, the wreaths beautiful in their colours, and the words spoken. I missed the troopers on their horses though. And according to yr.no, it was 2 Celsius !!! the lovely fur hats, and almost everyone wearing gloves and scarves, no wonder at that. Thanks Jenn , if it had not been for your words, I would have missed it all.

It feels good to cross projects off the To-Do list.

Some minor projects can turn into a night mare.

Things never go quite as expected.

We have a lot of food trucks here. I should go to more of them.

What IS it about islands -- they always get slammed with stuff and en you have to clean them off. That's quite a project -- well done!

The cat motif is a good one.

I last had a beavertail some weeks back.
