I captured just the head of the barred owl in the night. I suppose it is evidence of activity, but so disappointing.

Happily, Friday morning, Joseph Brian hustled back to the house from his morning walkabout. "Come!" he said. "Bring your camera!" I threw my coat on top of jammies and housecoat, grabbed the camera and the video camera.
He explained that he'd gone down the path, where I'd cut back fallen branches, and used the lawn tractor.
It leads down to the wetland.
This is the spot where he'd found the wee antler last week. This is from last January or February. In winter they shed their antlers, after rutting season is over.

There is was. It looked at me and looked at him. It's head was turned right around, as it was actually facing the other way.

I'm not sure I've ever heard of a fisher, must less see one. Learning something new every day!
No sign of our fisher for awhile. We have lots of raccoons and cats wandering in front of the neighbourhood trail cameras though.
I hear the owls, and know where their nest tree is but can never get a good look at them sitting still. Occasionally I will see them in mid flight.
Your deer are beautiful. I always said they know where to hang out safely in hunting season. That's the ONLY time we see them in our yard.

Love your masthead photo of the silhouetted pines. I've seen a fisher here. Cute little round ears. I've never seen a barred owl in person so appreciate seeing them in blogs. Looking forward to seeing critter tracks in the snow. My trail cameras were just not dependable.
