Another storm across southern Ontario -news and film at 6:30!

A storm flew by. They said there was a 'watch', not a 'warning'.

In truth, it was spotty in places. Weird little cells of rain, hail, wind and lightning.

Buster wanted out and I didn't think it would be so bad. Spotty clouds, but a wind. The weatherman said, "Don't cancel your plans!"

When the rains came, Buster Brown hunkered down behind the BBQ, refusing to come indoors. I grabbed my camera. We had a mother/son bonding moment: stormwatching!
This was a bit of lightning (right),
screen capture from my video.

The winds were quick to arrive and ferocious. Most of the milkweed, now blossoming, were blown over.
I check the rain gauge, after the storm, and we had 32mm of rain in about an hour.

In the middle of the storm, a rainbow. It's faint, but it was there and ended to my right on the driveway! Yes, I saw both ends!

Can you see the rainbow?
If you want to see excellent lightning photos, you only need visit the young photographer, David T. Chapman. I follow him on Twitter, often seek out his advice.

This is an old screen capture.
From a video...I'm too amateur to capture a photo!

It looks familiar! We have had so many of those storms rolling by here. At his point, the ground is so saturated, there is no place for the water to go. Roads have been washed out--some repeatedly, and mud slides were reported to the south of us yesterday.

Summer is the time for heavy showers and tough weather. We had hail and a shower for an hour this afternoon.

Oh Jennifer! This is really scary! As soon as there is lightning I close all windows and go inside. My house was once struck by lightning , and my chimney was completely destroyed..so now
I am afraid of thunder and lightening. I wish you a calm and sunny day.

I love almost all storms, short of tornadoes and hurricanes.

We had rain for a day, but nothing like yours. We've now got sunny weather. I'd better change my header photo. :-)
