A dark shape in the tree at night!

'Twas a mystery.
I spotted this black thing from my living room window just at dusk. We'd just settled in for a bit of TV. I had to go see! It was cold.
The spring peepers were singing again, though.
The tree frogs had been singing in the daytime. All was well with the world.

Tricky night capture!
The last porcupine I saw was roadkill, sadly.

Here is Ollie's field last fall. American Woodcocks love this spot!

In the meantime, there was an American Woodcock in Oliver's Field.

It looks like a fat robin, with a long, large bill. They are related to sandpipers! I don't have photos of them, either! This guy only comes out in the dark, or dawn.

They like forested thickets, with water and wetland. This one likes Oliver's Lot, where Ollie used to hunt for field mice.
