March Madness -

In this, March Madness week, this seems to be the end of the lake ice.

It just gets darker and darker!

You can the the long and winding road, the last snowshoe Brian took where the pathway of water collected on his trail. The water melted more quickly where people and machines had marched. There are a series of puddles on te top of the water that look like giant's footsteps (snowshoes!) going across the lake.

The frog pond is overflowing with water. Melted snow drains into the lake.

Can you hear it???

zzzzzzzzzzzz .....
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

This is Jeremiah last summer, but if you listen closely you can hear him. He snores like the rest of us! He has dug himself down into the mud and simply slept his way through winter. No scarf, hat, showshoes for him!

Soon he will awaken.
First the ducks return, then the plants green up.

I reflect back on Marches I have known up here (2006 - 2010).

Below is my video from March 14th, 2009 (one year ago).

Then there was March 25th, 2008, two years ago!
Just so we do not get too complacent about the weather!!!

You are right, there just might not be another winter like this one we've had on the west coast. Last week at the cabin I heard the first frog already. Amazing, and the geese are settling in getting ready to nest. - Margy
