Around here - most days are critter days. I love our wildlife.
I toddled down to the frogpond. Muskrat has been renovating. I have to warn them that this is a vernal pond, and may dry up if we don't get a lot of rain. It's been working so hard under the dock.
You can see its well-travelled path, the water in the frog pond. I can see the water moving after it swims under the dock when I arrive. I haven't seen Muskrat since May 1st.
Phoebe babies are getting close to fledging. In the meantime we watch them flit about feeding 5 little ones!

We've still two Freds. I was surprised to see both Freds out at the same time. They change mates from year-to-year. They don't live together. They keep a good lookout for predators.2 Freds! from Jennifer Jilks on Vimeo.

May 31st there was a visitor. I hadn't gone down to the trailcam in awhile. Bear was having a wash up. If you watch the video you can see the bugs flying around him.Bear wash ups from Jennifer Jilks on Vimeo.

We get excited over even the most common birds. It must be quite exciting to live where you do where the wildlife has so much to attract it. Fun! But also scary with bears.
Lots of critters to enjoy around your home.
I love your furred and feathered neighbours! With all the rain we are having, perhaps your pond will stay nice for muskrat. What a big yawn from Fred!
I think our baby starlings have left our eaves, so we'll get it repaired soon.
I must say, you write such interesting posts. Such an interesting range of topics.
You get lots and lots of critters - which would have me postponing tasks to watch them. which come to think of it is what I am doing now.
...if you would like a buddy for Fred, I could fix you up.

With several good eyes open day and night you get to see quite a few critters.
Wow Fred in the yard had such a voracious appetite, that plant didn't stand a chance. I love the lounging shots of Fred on the deck. What a life! Mr.Bear sure could use a wash, I'd imagine. And perhaps the mud will keep some bugs from biting.
