There are ceremonies in small towns across the province, as well as the televised one in Ottawa. Kids in school have had ceremonies on Friday. Students who attend Glebe Collegiate in Ottawa had a special project. They have mapped the homes on the website, and recognized their service.
The project is called "Walking Them Home." Students learn about the history of individual soldiers who went to Glebe Collegiate and place signs in front of their former homes.
Almonte's Gr. 6 students visited Auld Kirk Cemetery, where about 100 veterans rest. This ceremony was held with the support of the No Stone Left Alone (NSLA) Memorial Foundation. They put poppies on the headstones and had a ceremony.

Happy Remembrance Day to you all. I have great respect for all the men and women who have served in military capacities to defend not only their countries, but those of others in the great wars...and even today for countries and lives that are in conflicts. My daily meditation is to remind the politicians and generals that love is in their hearts, as well as those who are actually on the front lines. May they find peace from what is being done, and has been done, and move forward to living without hatred. And much love is sent to the civilians who have been hurt or died, and their families. For both sides of the conflicts.
...your Remembrance Day has meaning, our Veterans day is another reason to have a sale!

We celebrated Remembrance Day here too. Lest we forget.
Jenn, I had a front seat too. So many there, from young to the very old, and so cold according to the weather at Yr.no. The ceremony was moving to me, so I can only imagine how it was for those there, who served, had family members who lost their lives, or those who returned home. The wreaths were glorious in red and purple and green. I hope your front seat gave you the same view as it did for me.XXXX
We have our Veterans Day here. It doesn't seem to be a big deal any more.
I remember as a kid lots of people wore poppies. Not a thing in the USA any longer.
I've seen the Remembrance Day ceremonies in London on youtube. Very solemn occasion.
I have uncles, cousins, friends and my husband to whom I am grateful for their service to our country. It is so very important to recognize what they've done for us.

I love how you presented your Remembrance Day tribute. Far more detailed and appreciated (by me) because it has feeling and history.
It seems to me almost every other country I know of really emphasizes Veterans day a lot more than Americans do. That's embarrassing and sad.
