Gramma Camp 5.2

Gramma Camp 5.0
Gramma Camp Part 5.1

Thursday 5.2

Isabelle had my leftover pizza for breakfast, as well as leftover birthday cake. (What Happens At Gramma's, Stays At Gramma's!)

Then, we watched American Ninja Warriors. I'd never even heard of it. (They have Netflix at home!) We'd taped it for them because we knew they liked it.
We did Magic Meatballs!

I used the phone to register for parking at the beach. You can register there using QR codes on your phone, but I don't have that. Back in the old days they paid summer students to collect fees.

After this, we made some turkey chili.

We packed for the beach, intending to go after lunch, when it would be warmer, but I said, "Let's just go now!" I'm glad we did as it began to cloud over and get cooler.

Interesting people at the beach. We arrived around 11 a.m. and it was deserted. Then a mom and kid turned up. "I have to go pee!"
"Well, just go in the water," she said.
"But I have to go poo!"
I called over and told her the bathroom were just up above. "Fish pee in the lake." Disgusting.

It started to cloud over!

We came home after about an hour, pretty chilly. I said we could go back!
We found out our monarch chrysalis hatched and we couldn't tag it. Dang. I knew it would hatch when we were gone, but I forgot about it. Izzy and I looked everywhere. They usually hang about for a couple of hours!

The poor monarch won't be viable. It's wings didn't unfurl.

Your grandkids are so lucky. I remember going to visit my grandmother but she was not as active as you are. I did love to be in the country and to experience her gardening and cooking, but we rarely went anywhere. Of course, she never learned to drive so that may have been part of it. Plus she was older when my mom was born, so she was even older by the time I came along later in Mom's life. - Margy

My grandparents were very old when I was born, but they still did lots with us. They had a summer place in Cobourg, Ontario, right on Lake Ontario. I went there for the first time at two weeks of age. It was all great fun. My grands are all too big to want to hang out with me now. It saddens me that I have not had an opportunity to spend much time with the s.Ontario gang. I don't know my granddaughters at all. When the boys were youngster, their grandpa was still alive. We would have them for extended periods in the summers and weekends. They LOVED doing things with GPa, even if it was just watching do it yourself shows on TV. They have such fond memories. These memories shape us more than we may realize.

Maybe this monarch was a fast learner, and flew away safely. Too cold by the looks of the few people out there. Toilets, what does that say about their habits at home???

They had a lot of fun with you both.
Lovely photos Jenn :D)
Certainly brings back memories of when we took our granddaughters to the beach - its beaut to think back to those days now💖

I am so glad we can take them! I know that when my kids were small, we lived hours away from my parents, having moved to Ottawa from Toronto. I didn't regret the move, but we only spent a couple of week with them in summer, and a few days at Christmas, etc. My mom loved them so much!

Nothing more disappointing than a cold day at the beach.
