I suppose it could be worse!

Or it could be better! We had 2 cm snow yesterday, but it melted.

In the meantime, the skunk has been digging up grubs. This is from last year, but you can see its style!

Saturday's Critters #225

Skunk, last year on the front lawn.
A regular visitor.
Daisy was using these pre-dug skunk holes to pee in! What a bonus... The ground is pretty frozen.

The osprey and the blue heron are back, a little early, methinks. The rivers are melted, but the lakes, which thaw from the shorelines out, are quite frozen. There are many ponds which freeze and thaw in the warmth of the sunshine.

We took a drive, to Westport, and down Long Lake Rd. Another grouse crossing the road.

No sign of the beaver near the beaver dam. It's nice to see the open water.

The deer are eating the dead grass!

The meadow was really wet. It freezes overnight.

We continue to have Butch raccoon amble by. Sadly, our pair of rabbits are down to one. Poor hubby found one dead on the highway. It's so sad. We do have lots of wildlife.

Love the heron head shot and seeing him perched on his nest. We are having sleet this morning, but it will warm up to near 50 degrees, so don't expect it to last. Love your winter scenes. Happy Weekend!

Hello, I am not sure if I would want a skunk hanging around. I love your header shot. The heron on the nest and the osprey are wonderful. Pretty captures of the deer. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. I also appreciate your comment and visit. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

Wow, the photos of your pod ecosystem are wonderful... So much variety and glorious testament to God's handiwork!!! Even though we live in a Mid Atlantic state we are expecting snow today... Come Spring, please!!! Blessings!

Lots of interesting creatures here, but I'd be staying away from that skunk!

Precarious nesting places, and what a task to even build the nest there. Great photos.Looks like you are still in winter mode.

The 14 day forecast only showed one more snow event, but that could change.

I'm surprised that the herons are back and nesting already! Love that pic of the 2 of them in the tree with the nest!

Hi, I love seeing your wildlife pictures. We are weary of cold weather and look forward to spending more time in the yard this spring. Georgia has very hot summers, so we have to take advantage of mild temperatures when we can. Wishing you a nice day.

I love the skunk video ... before I retired, I used to run in the morning, and my route used to cross an area frequented by a skunk. I think we surprised each other the first time we 'met'!

Birds and critters seem much more adaptable than humans to this cold weather.
