Our lovely trees

We never had a party around tree decorating. AC's post has inspired me for this post, though.  [Tree Decorating Party 2019]

We've had different trees. We don't really do a tree since Daisy fried ours, and burned her tongue. There isn't a day I don't miss her. She's been rehomed after fighting with her siblings.

She loved that tree!

We've had simple trees in the past. One year I decorated the caterpillar. Another, my large plants.

One year it was a tree branch, it depends upon the size of your home!

This is our little Charlie Brown tree. It had a little set of white lights. The kittens killed my little tree lights. What a pain. I tried to fix them, but I cannot see well enough to do it.

Monday we went to get our meds from the pharmacy and I spotted these new tree lights. So did the kittens, right away. It was like a magnet.

Just for fun, this is our Sadie (2005 – 2015). The kittens looks so much like her! I must dig out Frosty, too.

I'm on the mend, thanks, all for checking in. I'm managing symptoms, which are lessening. I have to take the kittens to the vet today. It shouldn't be too bad. Annabelle has to go in for her annual checkup, too.

JB's taking his antibiotics. I'm certainly taking it easy, as is he. He's just resting and coughing.

We're getting there...

Friday

Friday I did a grocery shop and it wasn't pretty. I'd forgotten to have breakfast in the rush before the storm, and I was a bit dizzy. Despite strict order to get ground coffee, I brought home whole beans. I'm gonna have to grind them.
Our colds were worsening, JB phoned the doctor for an appointment Monday.

Sunday

Sunday, the kids did Facetime with me. They'd made Christmas cookies. Izzy showed me all that they had done setting out Christmas ornaments, etc. It's Josee's 12th birthday party next weekend. Gonna be fun! I love their sweaters!

Monday

My first chore was to get the garbage out by 8 a.m., but first I had to shovel the front step. Next, in for an 8:30 physiotherapy appointment for my bursitis. Yikes. I remembered to have some toast. It's been a long time since I've had to be human at that time of day!

Home again, I did the 100m driveway. That was fun. I was pretty fatigued.

Thank you, all, for asking how we are, and giving moral support.  We went to the doctor after lunch. Poor JB is so full of phlegm. I won't gross you out. He's tried all sorts of cough meds. We'e both had headaches from coughing so much.  I explained the difference between it being viral and bacterial. It was time.

We were behind RTRULOV going into town!
I'm on the mend. I might have an ear infection, but it'll heal sometime soon. My kids' GP used to look in their ears and say, "You have a fire engine in your ear!"

JB is on 'banana medicine', AKA Amoxicillin. He has some bacterial infection in his left lung, as well as sinusitis. The doctor gave him a Rx for a puffer, too. It should be a few days as he fights this. I'm just tired and taking it easy. I won't go to my client this week. Not only do I not want to give this to her, but the more I talk, the more I cough.

Out, in the night and in the snow. The buck came out after the snow.

Tuesday

This morning I fed the cats, fed the fish, started the very full dishwasher, and began a fire in the TV room. It's a bit chilly.

I tried to put the coffee grinder to work, but I'm ready to throw it out the window. Nothing is simple.

It's still snowing!

I usually begin the day to see how much Caitlin or Tom have beaten me on Angry Birds! At these temperatures, you want to wait for the day to warm up a tad.

A storm was on its way. Freezing rain in Toronto, and around the Gold Horseshoe.  The Golden Horseshoe is the area from Toronto through Mississauga and around to Niagara Falls. Most of Ontarians live around here, about 8 million people.

I could see the mess on the radar, as well as thousands of power outages.

There was a 30-car pileup on the highway east of Kingston. The highway was closed and just opened an hour ago (5:30). One person is dead and 16 went to hospital. Another woman dead in Niagara.
About 500 crashes in the #GTA in the past 24 hours. #OnStorm
We started getting snow around 4 p.m.,  no rain.
Annie came barrelling in the door. Little Twinkletoes has been busy! I bet this is where she fetched the two voles she ate on the front porch.

The raccoons were busy at the pumpkins. This looks like the momma who had triplets. We lost a raccoon on the road a few weeks ago, it looks like that family.

I went down to fetch my canoe paddles and life jacket from my canoe.

The shoreline was frozen.

We'll see what the day brings. It's only -5 C. today. I have to go out and shovel. Also, put out the garbage. I have physio this morning, too. I'm better, but can't talk too much or I cough. Poor JB is still coughing heavily. We'll get him to the doctor shortly.

Shopping online

Poor JB is still fighting this cold. I'm on the upturn. I'm happy for the Internet to keep me amused.

I saw some lovely pieces in this auction: Online Auction <= the archive. I got all excited. There were some things that intrigued me.

It's interesting software. You place your bid, and can include an 'up to' price. The software automatically raises your bid until it reaches your max. They were lovely pieces. I saw the people picking up the Grandfather clock. It was gorgeous.

I narrowed down my 'watch' items. I thought that our local animal rescue could use the bath towels.

I lost the bid for the bear. I think it ended up at $200. I had my eye on it. I figured I couldn't lift it, or figure out how to get it, and the bedroom furniture, home. I gave up. JB quite liked it, too! He's fond of bears. While deciding to bid or not, I go looking for the pieces to get a sense of how much they are new. I couldn't find the bear anywhere. It's a resin Design Toscana piece, quite big. It looks just like lamp we have.

Off I went Saturday morning. I had an address, and  plugged it into Gillian GPS: Online Auction 1351 County Rd 2, Maitland Ontario. What a wonderful drive! JB wasn't well enough to go, besides, I didn't think there was room.

I didn't stop to take photos, although I screen-captured these from Google on CR 2. Amazing places, overlooking the St. Lawrence. Not cheap, either.

It was just over an hour to get there, 75 km. I stopped at Motts Mills, just to see what it was like.

I took a straight route, following GIllian GPS. I went through Brockville.

Normally, you pick items up in North Augusta, where the auction house is. This time, we had to drive to the house. It was packed with people and cars. I parked up top, and checked in. Happy people, with treasures. The house itself was crawling with staff, which was great. They'd laid cardboard down, so as not to dirty the carpets. They had their laptops there, and accessed my lot items. They took off the top of my dresser, which meant it fit better in the car.

When I arrived home, I looked up the house. It has sold, the listing down. (The realtor has taken the listing down, but:  Web cache, $799,000) There was an assistive seat on the toilet and in the shower, indicating things didn't end well for the residents. It is poignant.

I saw some lovely pieces heading out the door. Beautiful pieces that will be looked after by the buyers, I am sure.
I took a different route home.

My pieces are the perfect colour for our room. Someone had lovingly painted my pieces. They have dovetailed drawers. There are drawer liners in it, too. Nutmeg approves.

What a lovely home on the St. Lawrence!
