❄️FEBRUARY ❤️

February was a mess.

Lake effect snow...

Feb. 25th – big winds, power outages, thunder & lightning

Feb. 24 – freezing rain warning, which became rain.

It's frozen on bare ground. The snow is fine to walk on, but I don't want to walk in the rain.

Feb. 22

Feb. 21 – a lot less snow than predicted, and freezing rain

Feb. 19 – we'll see what this brings!

Feb. 15

Oh, yuck. They predict rain... it was snow.

Feb. 13 – 25 cm, and 53 cm snowcover

Feb. 11

Another storm on its way. In the meantime, B.C. had 12,000 without power, from winds. They've been cold, which is unusual, as well as snow.
Feb. 10

Feb. 8

Friday, big winds, and a drop in temperature over the day. The trick was, to sweep away the melted ice pellets before it all froze again. That proved impossible.

Feb. 6 – more precipitation: ice ball pellets, AKA ice rain

Feb. 4 – rain overnight, flooding in Ottawa, busses cancelled...

And it's all going to freeze.

It's a mess

#OttawaOPP notes many weekend collisions were due to a failure to adjust driving to conditions. Be aware of changing weather and road conditions and #SlowDown. Watch for emergency vehicles approaching from behind and give them room. #otttraffic ^bd pic.twitter.com/xxUavfpFpG

Feb. 1-2 – 7 cm = 6mm liquid

Great Lakes Temperatures
This is the cause of Lake Effect Snow. The winds pick up moisture from open water.
