The birds are coming back! Starlings, red-winged blackbirds, grackles, robins, vultures, and someone on Facebook has heard a timberdoodle, too!
Sometimes the robins hang around for the winter, but not this year.I shall start with the hopes of spring. Friday morning, I stood on the back deck and heard the robin singing for love! They've been around a few weeks, but the songs... 💕

We are looking to ice pellets or snow, rain after midnight. I set up the rain barrel, hoping to fill the goldfish pond. I may regret that! We shall see.

That crow sounded like it was barking at the deer! Always a joy to visit Crumbly Acres via the magic of the ether... YAM xx
Nice to have signs of spring. Critters and birds are sure ready for it.
The robins around us are territorial during nesting season, and they live in backyards and street trees. But after the young ones grow up, they congregate in flocks and go off into the wooded areas outside of the city — sometimes when walking in the woods we see the flocks of robins who are out there. In late winter/early spring, they come back to our gardens. I wonder if your robins do something like that.
The weather here has been pretty bad,so I haven’t seen the first red-winged blackbird of spring, which I consider a real harbinger.

It really is fun to see the birds when they return. I watched some red winged blackbirds at a pond last night. They are so musical!
Spring birds here too, lovely to hear all the singing/chirping going on. The turkey vultures have returned to the farm fields and sitting on the old barn. Had to search what a timberdoodle was!
Bird-watching is such an enjoyable activity. You have a nice variety.
I have never seen a fisher - that one looks quite healthy. I'm still waiting for the Red-Wing Blackbirds to appear here.
Fun to see your birds especially the robins!
WONDERFUL sights and sounds.
I do like your Blackbirds. That flash of orange colour is much needed.
Beautiful birds! Your deck is part of the nightly rounds for Butch.
So nice to see the birds returning, lovely photographs.
Enjoy your weekend.
All the best Jan
Lovely to see the birds out!
You found some interesting critters at your place.
You've got more birds than we have.
It's wonderful to see these stunning birds coming back after the winter. Nice pics!
life stirs again
Perhaps the crows are commentators on the deer's activity
