Dec. 23 – the storm
It's been terribly cold to the west, both British Columbia, and the prairies. They are worried about demands on energy supplies. B.C. isn't used to such cold temperatures. They are prepositioning snowplows around the cities. Operators are ready to go.
Schools are closed today, even teachers didn't have to go in. This is unusual. Our girls were disappointed, since they have talent shows, and parties, and fun. It's a shame, but better they are safe.
I woke at 4 a.m., and looked outside. The eavestrough was overflowing. Now, at 6, they seem to be flowing again. There was snow in them when this started.
The cats are sitting on the front deck.

We had a cm of snow last night, and so far, 15 mm rain. I turned up the heat to 20, just in case we lose power, and I have to heat with wood. It is easier to keep it at temperature once the house is warm. We got up early and started coffee.
We've a deep freeze tonight. It is 1 C. now. I may see you back on the other side of this! There are 25,453 without power in Ontario. Maybe not!

I have been watching the wind and cold sweep across the northern regions on the news. Hope you are staying safe and warm. I am glad that my family is not planning travel this year.
Well, we didn’t lose power with the freezing rain, so I am thinking we’ll be ok unless it is caused by winds. We shall see.
...this should be a major storm. Stay warm and safe.
Glad to hear you can heat with wood. My tiny apartment is cozy (though it's getting to 0 F today...no rain or snow). I hope the high winds don't knock out many people's power.
It is the wind that I am worried about. Stay warm.
No outages yet, but time will tell.
I do hope you can retain power - and feel for those without it.
The cats were very interested in something out there. Stay warm and safe, hope you do not have to drive anywhere.
Interesting to see the cats sniffing on the cam, they must smell you. Hope you don't loose power. Hang in there, winter isn't forever, yet.
Good luck with all the weather issues, and have a great Christmas!

The news paints a scary picture for you. I hope you are safe and that your power doesn't go off.
It's certainly an unpleasant storm here!
And I think it's cold here! Yikes! I hope less frigid weather comes your way soon.
Oh my gosh! That's spooky. Please stay safe and warm.
