I knew the skunk was here in the night! It's been harvesting grubs, bless its little heart.
The grass is a little greener than this, but this is what s/he did a few nights ago. The long trail is a vole tunnel, previously under the snow.
Finally, I managed to grab video footage of the skunk in the back yard.
It took me several days to place the trailcam in the right spot. The bonus were the birds singing during the daytime.

Great video Jenn! Love the bonus part at the beginning
I've noticed the tell tale signs in our lawn that the skunk has been visiting..
Have a good day.

A turn on the lawn for everyone? Do you see skunks in the daytime?
When we lived in California we were next to a regional park and right behind us was an undeveloped section of hillside. We got possums and once even a skunk that came through our kitty door before we abandoned the use of one. When I came home from work I thought the skunk was a stray cat that had come in to eat at the food dish. I yelled at it and started forward to chase it out. When I realized it was a skunk I stopped and reversed course to the garage, where I waited a good amount of time to allow the skunk to finish eating and exit back out the kitty door on its own. It was so lucky I didn't scare it enough to cause a spraying. - Margy
Fascinating to watch the critter walking about!
Skunks are very interesting little critters.
only you could like skunks Jenn, great capture!
July 1st, I woke early. Annie was playing with a mouse on the bed. I picked it up, to put it outside, and spotted a skunk. That was the only other daytime siting, Jean!
Margy, I love your story. I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time, but I wonder about this! They do have to climb steps, onto the back deck, through 2 cat doors... Hopefully, we are safe with Annabelle keeping watch!
Neat video! Nice new header photo too!
