MTM - tourists are HERE!

I was outside, soliciting at the LCBO in town...OK, politically correct term would have been canvassing for Hospice Muskoka.

Joking aside, I graciously bow to those who listened as I gave my speech, and those who donated, despite believing they were years away from needing such services! We help families with the peaceful passing of young and old. I attended another palliative conference last week, and there are some incredible Primary Care teams working to help those whose time has come. But that is another blog (OntarioSeniors)!

Hospice Muskoka does some great work, as do all the non-profit hospice groups across this continent. Seek them out in your neck of the woods.

What was so much fun, was a group of Bikers from Barrie. Some alliteration, n'est-ce pas?

They all lined up nicely, likely well-admired by my both my accountant-husbands if they had been there!

Some tripped across the street to get some delicious ice cream from the ice cream parlour, or hamburgers from the BJs grill. Others were simply stretching their legs an a lovely day for a drive.

Traffic was busy in our town. I wish I wasn't a working girl, as it would have been fun capturing all the vanity licence plates. Ah well, there is plenty of time.

The summer is long. I am looking forward to what goes on this summer.

Is this Bala??! I've eaten at Bee Jay's! Any chance I can talk you into a post on Don's Bakery? And their incredible butter tarts!

Or is it Huntsville? You know what else would make a great MTM post? The Kee! I'm tripping down memory lane...

The tourists have arrived in my town, too. Great photos, Jenn.

It is Bala, Barrie!

Don's Bakery is for sale...There is an opportunity for you! :-)

I haven't been to The Kee in a few years. Too many young, stupid drunks about...

Don's Bakery is for sale?! I'll have to let my sisters know so they can dash up 69 for their last dozen butter tarts! Re The Kee--I wonder what the history is? I haven't clicked through on your link yet. Thanks!

Don's has been up for sale for at least a year, perhaps two?
There seems to be no rush, Barrie.

Re: The Kee, the music is just too loud for me. We can hear it 2 km away. They don't start until 10 p.m. and go till 1:30. (I can't do those hours anymore!)

There seems to be a lot of drinking, and now that we know more about this issue, people are now hiring a bus, and drinking themselves silly.
Pub crawls, resort nights for resort employees to let off some steam. There have been a couple of accidents with people sitting on the tracks while inebriated.

I can almost hear the rumble of those bikes.

I'm sure I could find some audio, Travis! Except it slows my system down so much...

I was so impressed with how they lined them all up! My brother told the story at mom's funeral how she ranted and raved about these hooligans coming into town. They were driving behind some, who turned onto their road. She was going on about who they could be visiting. It was my brother and his friends! She had a bit of a bias against them...it was so funny.

The tourists have arrived in our area as well, although I haven't seen quite as many motorcycles as you show.
Thanks for your work for Hospice. Hospice was wonderful with my late wife.

Ah, a place to get away from the non-stop working environment of the city. All city dwellers crave that small town flavour to rejuvenate their senses before returning to their daily grind. Surely not all visitors to your piece of paradise are wanting to paint the town red.

Not all, Barbara! Most seem to want to tear around the lakes raising a ruckus, though! One great highway without speed limits! Kids screaming, boat traffic, loons nearly getting beheaded. It is a zoo some w/ends...
