Here we are in Batchawana Bay.
We spent the previous day in Blind River.
I love how my friend, Travis, celebrates a local author. As an author, he sees the need to celebrate one another.
I thought I might do the same. At this point I am the only local author I really know. I have been supporting my artisan friends, both financially, and through celebrating their work and their spirit. We faithfully attend market days to support the local economy.
There are many ways to market a book. I have been tirelessly boring family and friends with mine: Dying With Dignity . I have given them away to people who might be able to do a book review.
I have attended grief and palliative care conferences, donated them to local libraries (Bala, Port Carling, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst), and given them to local Hospices.
However, as we drove through Northern Ontario, we spotted many signs. This one was curious. Can you figure out why this is there near Blind River?
Author's: update...I ended up buying the book in one of the stores. But after reading it, and posting a Book Review, I was quite disappointed with it.

I saw that sign on another friend's Facebook page! He was driving to Winnipeg. It definately a different way to promote your book! Maybe you could put your own sign on the flower rock. :)
We saw all the signs on our drive home to Alberta and now cannot find anywhere to buy this book. I am quite interested in purchasing this book, please email info to jag4@telus.net.
Clever marketing, isn't it?
The devious catch: I don't know where to buy it either! There are no links on the web page. Little information.
On one of the signs that I seen on my way through Sudbury it said Chapters and Coles at the bottom. I would think that would be a place to start looking.
This guy has a brilliant marketing campaign, slick, memorable and effective. Something to learn here. & it's available in the little independent gas bars & tourist shops/diners along hwy17.
Cheers---great blog too!
The only problem is that the book is written from the perspective of a red neck. It is chock full of racism, gender bias, and a rather puerile novel. I am sorry I bought it!
Also, you cannot figure out where to buy it any where else! I have had my local Book Store have trouble finding it. I gave her my copy to sell.
His website gives no information.
I was tricked by the signs into buying it at one of the Trading posts along Hwy 69. It's probably the worst book I've ever read. The first 100 pages or so is just one big advertisement for stores and taverns in Sudbury and Blind River. As well as mindlessly rhyming off different motels in Elliot Lake. Very pathetic, many editing errors, drags on and on, uses the exact same descriptions over and over again. Very poorly written. I would have thrown it in my wood stove before I was half way through except I'd paid for it so I finished it. It didn't get any better.
@anonymous It is an awful book. I would not recommend it at all!
