Gramma Camp – Week 25 Wednesday

7:32 a.m. – I was sitting blogging, when someone roared down the hall! She found her surprises on her placemat, then offered to wake Josee up.

7:45 a.m. – Josephine still wasn't up. Grampa cheekily suggested, "IF she doesn't get up now, soon it'll be Easter!

Grampa began this joke a few weeks ago, "If you don't do your teeth Momma will rip my head off!" The joke evolved.

8:01 – Isabelle to Grampa, "Where's your head?" She ushered herself downstairs to do her teeth.

8:15 – Josephine to Grampa, "Your head is still attached, Grampa!" Off SHE went to do her teeth!

Isabelle lost her tooth. Her last baby molar. The tooth fairy was consulted in the evening, and we decided to put something under the pillow. Apparently, $2 is the going rate! (I put down $3!) In the morning we talked about the tooth, and I asked if the tooth fairy had been. Yes. "Look, I have a tip!" It had not been loose, she said. She's lost three this month.

I went down to fetch the memory cards. Perhaps for the last time, I stood on the ice. The dock is ready for spring, as are we all. We had rain Wednesday night. About 2.5 mm.

Outdoor play.

Josee's bed was deflating overnight, every night. The mattress is two years old, at least. This popped up on Facebook!

Grampa went to the store for her! Vanna White did an explanation... built-in air pump, just plug it in, plus a nice memory foam topper.

Grampa did a dinner show.  He played The Unicorn song. We all chimed in for the chorus.

 Green cupcakes were the treat.

It's warmed up overnight.

Our health unit has reported an increase in COVID–19 cases. The health unit is working with Perth Curling Club. There has been inconsistent use of masks and social distancing (Mar. 5 - 12th). They are limiting activity in indoor sports venues, large halls, places of worship, and clubs. Lanark West went from 8 cases in the beginning of March to 51 Wednesday.

Critters, cats, cardinal, clocks, Cervidae, and curling

Critters

We still have art on our front window, thanks to the grandies. As I look out at the deer eating my bird seed, three things come to mind.
1) I ought to change the bird feeders. The deer are way too used to it, and spring is coming. They like my hostas.
2) I can't take good photos with the drawings on the windows!
3) Daisy wants in!

Cats

As I watched the yard, there was a silence after a shadow passes across the yard. The hawk, on its way by.

Daisy is happier with the melting snow, as well as the warmer March temperatures. We've had several good walks.

Clocks

Caitlin found a man who could repair our cuckoo clock! It sat in the cottage for many years. The kids have fond memories of it during our summer visits. He also fixed our mantle clock. I'm so happy. The cuckoo clock was in the cottage for 40 years. The mantle clock plays Westminster, with a beautiful sound.

Cervidae

As I looked out into the backyard, I spotted what must be two yearlings, twins, grooming one another! So sweet!

Curling

Hubby is watching Women's Worlds Curling #WWCC2017! It keeps him off the street! Sadly, the games are on at 9 p.m., 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., most days. We can tape it. TSN doesn't show anything other than the Canadian women playing, even a big game. This morning's game is against Sweden.

Sweden is 6:1; Canada is 7:0. We have to eschew the news until we watch the game. It's tricky! JB delivered Meals on Wheels, with the radio on, but avoiding sports news all morning!

The is how they repair the stone. I thought it interesting.

Our Rachel Homan, Team Canada: Gets Cracking! They have ads everywhere, these days!

And, yes, I know you don't like curling, Red. You're much more likely to be out skating or birding, but it keeps hubby amused. I spent Monday resting my knee and watching the US hearings regarding the FBI/NSA and Russian wiretapping. It's entertaining, spooky, and fascinating, all at the same time. Methinks it is all unravelling.

Happy St. Patricks Day!

I have nary an Irish bone in my body. Hubby is 3/4 Irish. They were Kelly and Chambers on his mother's side of the family. His father was half Irish.

Peculiar, my first husband was of Irish descent, as well, and both were accountants!

I'm not Irish, so say my adoption papers. However, we did have green spaghetti for dinner last night. Most of our snow is gone, I should take another photo!

We have the kids, and the days have been full.
Buster came in at 5 a.m. and there was a wee wake-up by Iz.

Kay posed this problem: making as many words as possible from these letters. That's all.

shamrocks

  1. sham
  2. ham
  3. rocks
  4. hock
  5. sock
  6. shock
  7. mass
  8. cask
  9. mark
  10. hark
  11. croak
  12. harm
  13. charm

Luck of the Irish!

While I'm not Irish, adopted into a family with British roots, Jilks, Gilks, Gilkes are all from England, hubby is!

His family were Kelly and Chambers.
Funnily enough, three brothers married three sisters, too! They all had farms in south eastern Ontario.

We went all out to have some fun!
'Irish'stew, Guinness, Irish coffee.
We babysat, while the kids went into town!
An Irish princess,
with a hydrogeologist mommy,
can go hiking in the woods!

An Irish princess needs green beads!

The binoculars really helped!
Cheers!

The Irish, just hanging out!
One of them has red hair!

This was just silly fun!

When we came back from our walk,
we had a party in the backyard.

Even giraffalope sported some green!

Grampa bought a wig!

Mommy plays peek!

green balloons were just fun!

My best buy has to be window crayons!
Beautiful artwork!
